I was 10 years of age when i visited Thailand. My dad made sure that i stayed within the walls of the YMCA Hotel as he was worried that i would wander along the streets while exploring and may be kidnapped and sold into some prostitution ring. It is good to be careful

I loved the Sweet and Sour Chicken served in the Hotel's restaurant. I ate quite a bit. Traveled on a canoe - like boat on a river and there were other boats which drifted along the river we were touring on. People would peddle close to our boat and show off their goods and wares, wanting us to buy anything from wooden sculptures of elephants to bananas. I was afraid of falling over the flimsy boat as i couldn't swim. The waters were so milky green in color and i couldn't see the bottom of the river.

We went to see elephants and crocodiles. I saw a dog living in the same cage as a tiger as well. They got tourists to lie on their backs which the elephants clumsily walked over them. No one was killed of course. But one elephant started to sniff at a tourist's crotch with its trunk and he started freaking out, cupping his family jewels. I guess the elephant was a female.

Mom bought a hand bag. I think it was elephant skin. It got moldy after a while. The tour group took us to shops which sold pieces of jewelry. We weren't impressed.

A few years later, i went with relatives to both Phuket and Koh Samui. I went with cousins, aunt, and grandparents. Dad and mom were there as well. So were my sisters. It was one big family outing.

We saw the beaches and had to transfer from boat to boat. It was kinda tricky to move from one boat to another, especially for granny. She's quite a big woman and when she stood at the edge of the boat, it threatened to capsize. We went to "James Bond" Island too. It is named as such because a James Bond movie was filmed there. It was a lovely place. Secluded and peaceful. We went to visit this big cave which was filled with birdie poo. Apparently, this is the place where people collect birds nest for medicinal purposes. Birds nest is, i believe, made form birdie saliva.

The beaches were beautiful. The waters were clear and i could see the little fishes swimming around my legs. I stayed close to the shore because i started to get all paranoid about sharks and jellyfish.

We tasted all sorts of delicacies and i guess i did eat too much (as always). I quite like a little pancake which a guy sold along the streets. But it was really oily stuff.

At the end of the day, we ran outta cash and we had to choose wisely in what we could afford to eat and all. But it was a good trip. I bought myself a few Tin Tin tee shirts.
