I have no idea where this city is located. It's either Texas or Arkansas. I guess i'll put it in Arkansas. But it could be Texas though... anyway... I didn't take any pictures here for reasons that i was half awake and i was too tired to take out the camera. The terminal looked extremely busy and we were delayed longer than expected. A disabled passenger was loaded into the bus too. There was a special door all for that guy. It was interesting. I?m glad that public transport is catered for the disabled as well. TEXARKANA On my way to this place, we traveled along highways, which were paved with many, many trees. They claimed Arkansas as the Natural State. I now see what they meant. Lush green trees line the road for miles and miles. Went to this place where i saw Bill Clinton's birthplace. The bus was speeding along and it was really unexpected. I didn't have the camera at hand. The house was situated at the corner of a street and it was some sort of a building with light green and dark green shades. Next to it was shops and ample parking space. I guess they had in mind a crowd of visitors coming to the President?s birthplace. It looked quiet that day though. HOPE This is where we stopped to pick up more passengers. It looked like a neighborhood with African Americans as the dominant racial group. The terminal was run down and it came across as a poor neighborhood and quite unsafe. But it did make me think how diverse the US was. And what the world thinks of the United States as a rich country seems to be a screen hiding the poverty and suffering of folks who live below the poverty line and having a tough time making ends meet. I don?t know if the folks are willing to work or still living as if they were slaves yesterday, carrying sacks of cotton and demanding for some recognition and all. Seriously, they can make it in life if they tried. Sitting around and waiting for welfare isn?t gonna help much. I know of a few African Americans who have succeed in life because they have made the choice of letting go of their past and working towards their future. LITTLE ROCK This was where I got a little lost and confused. I was supposed to change buses at Memphis. But since it was my first time I was traveling, I didn't know my way. I thought I had to get off here. Glad I asked someone and I didn't get off. I actually thought I was in Tennessee. WEST MEMPHIS |
