| I was a part of Army ROTC for a good long 12 months. Left the Corps with 2 busted ankles and a screwed lower back. My exercise - induced asthma was almost ever present, so things did get rough at times. It was never nice to be wheezing in the woods or while dug into some mud pit. All in all, it was a good experience. Basically, we are trained to be good officers of the US Army. Trained to lead. Trained to do amazing stuff such as learning to march and learning to eat "proper meals" which are also known as MREs (Meals: Ready to Eat). Could have sworn that they are "Meals: Rejected by Ethiopia" but i do find some of the varieties yummy. Just avoid Chilli & Macaroni. It gives you plenty of gas. And it is not nice to fart in front of guys. Not a ladylike thing to do. |

| We are born to lead. We are trained to lead. Now i wouldn't know if Leadership skills are entirely "nature" or "nurture", but i think that they go hand in hand. It may seem pretty easy to lead, but really, it's not. PRINCIPLES OF LEADERSHIP Know yourself and seek self improvement Be technically and tactically proficient Seek responsibility and take responsibility for your actions Make sound and timely decisions Set the example Know your soldiers and look out for their well being Keep your subordinates informed Develop a sense of responsibility in your subordinates Ensure the task is understood, supervised and accomplished Build the team Employ your unit in accordance with its capabilities Some serious stuff huh? Well it gets better. Click on any of the links to the left (in yellow) to find out more about Army ROTC. |
