"Cool!" she gushed and her face lit up in extreme joy. Suddenly she exclaimed, "HOOAH!" And away she went, deliriously happy and quite very excited. "HOOAH! HOOAH! HOOAH!"
"Well, HOOAH to you too, lady."
So, what's all that buzz about HOOAH? How did it come about? What's that word?
As i was taught in the hallowed halls of ROTC, HOOAH is also known to some as HUOA. But obviously HOOAH looks better than HUOA. HUOA is an acronym of 'Head Up One's Ass'. haha.
Anyway, here is what HOOAH means to us folks in green.
HOOAH (who - ah) interj. [slang used by soldiers, primarily light infantry, airborne troops and rangers referring to or meaning anything and everything except "NO"]
1) Good copy, solid copy, roger, good or great; message received, understood.;
2) Glad to meet you, welcome.
3) I do not know, but will check on it, I haven't the foggiest ides what you are talking about.
4) I am not listening.
5) That is enough of your drivel - sit down!
6) Stop sniveling.
7) You've got to be kidding!
8) Wonderful, great..
9) Thank You.
10) Go on to the next briefing slide.
11) You have taken the correct action / measures.
12) I don't know what the heck that is, but i'm too embarassed to ask for clarification.
13) That is really cool, i want one of that too!
14) AMEN.
A close equivalent to OOHRAH (US Marine Corps slang) and HOOYAH (US Navy slang)
