The plan was that we would have everythng done by Christmas, leaving lots of time before Easter, which was when we had committed to be at a Folk Group meeting to lead a workshop. Unfortunately easter was about as early as it gets and there was oodles left to do in the january onwards timeframe. Sp the day before we were due to set off, I drove to B&Q to get the last piece of bed. It was varnished that night, fitted first thing in the morning and by the time the boss was awake, we had a working van. naturally it then took all day doing bits and pieces that had been forgotten and loading the van, so in the end we left a day late, but not bad. For it's first outing, we have a van, which drives along OK and legally, has cupboards, shelves, fridge, cooker, sink, wardobe, loo (without a door!). bed (without ability to fold it up yet, or a matress), windows (but not yet all in the right places), insulation (but not yet on the doors), an awning (which we have yet to see anywhere near alongside the van), a locker (with no doors) and so on and so on
When we came back from our trip, which included horizontal rain, hail, 3 inches of snow and a bit of sunshine, we had a long list of things to do, but nothing major. The basic layout worked, the gas and water and electricity all did their stuff and under oodles of blankets, on lilos, we were warm at night even with minus three degree temperatures. I spent some time checking the gas for leaks, because I am paranoid about it.... but all seemed OK
