We wanted an awning partly because it gives us some more space, but mostly because a free standing awning can be left on site to 'mark our space' and keep the set up, table, chairs etc, if we drive off site in the van itself.

Lots of investigation over the internet showed that
a) we didn't have a cat in hell's chance of finding one designed for an LDV Convoy,
b) fitting it to the van would not be simple, as any that fit the rail will probably not work since the rail is half full of the glue that holds the roof on,
c) space would be at a premium compared to our full length caravan awning, so we needed it still large enough to live in but small enough to save weight and actually fit,
d) we could buy a new one for c 250-300, but some Dutch and German ones looked better, and
e) my lady preferred doors in the right places for easy passage without a scenic route around table and chairs, and really liked the option of a zip DOWN panel allowing opening for air and sociability without having to shift the inevitable things that accumulate around the walls.

So we watched eBay and bid on a couple, one of which was a 'pick up only' from Nairn which is almost as far as you can get from our South Coast without falling into the sea at John O'Groats.
Third time lucky, we bid and won a Ventura Freestander (made in the Netherlands) from Rugby.
We collected it, very conveniently, whilst en route to Nottingham to take son out to lunch on his birthday, and worked out how to pitch it the next day. After minor repairs to the pole bag, recoding the poles to our own system, refitting the connecting springs to the poles, getting a missing guy (very kindly sent on by the vendor, thank you), and working graphite into the zips, we have just one tear in the mudflap to mend to leave us with a very nice, hardly used awning for 130. It's even our preferred colour of green!

In an ideal world we would try attaching it to the van, but there is no convenient space to do so, and little time left, so we'll only find out if it fits well to the van (or not) will be when on our first trip away over Easter. Fingers crossed!
