PS Zone Current News Activision is working on a new Playstation
and Nintendo 64 3D fighting game called X-Men: Mutant Academy. This
was originally a full 3D fighting game, now the game has been changed to a
2.5D fighting game with 3D graphics and 2D gameplay. The game
is based on the Wu Tang game engine, the control system is similar to
Capcom's X-men fighting game, featuring 3 play modes: Academy Training,
Arcade and Versus. There are 10 initially playable characters, including
Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, Storm, Beast, Phoenix, Magneto, Sabretooth,
Toad and Mystique, each will have 7 different costumes. (picutres

Olympus is working on a new face mounted display peripheral for Playstation 2, called the EyeTrek FMD-200. The Eye-Trek FMD-200 featuring a large screen, and high quality sound, which makes you think you are inside the game. One advantage of using it is that even if you turn around, you still can focus on the surrounding scenery of the game.
Taito is working on a new PS2 soccer game, which features a speech recognition system, scheduled to release in Japan this summer, more info will be available in the Tokyo Game Show 2000. From Software is planning to include
network battle features in their upcoming PS2 mech combat game
Armored Core 2. Konami announced yet another Beat Mania title for Playstation, called Beat Mania Best Hits, this time it is not an append disc, but a stand alone game, which will feature a collection of the most popular songs from the Beat Mania series, plus a number of new features not found in the previous series. You will be able to vote for the songs to be included in the game at Konami's KCEJ Homepage, between March 2 and April 5. Beat Mania Best Hits is scheduled to release in Japan this summer. The PS2 version of Tecmo's upcoming PS2 fighting game Dead or Alive 2 will include a 4 player fighting mode, PS2 MultiTap support, new features from updated Dead or Alive 2 Millennium, such as more balanced gameplay and computer AI, as well as brand new costumes and real time movies for certain characters. Dead or Alive 2 for PS2 is scheduled to release in Japan on March 30, for 6800 yen. Imagineer has
released new images of their upcoming Playstation 2 offroad / rally racing
game Wild Wild Racing, scheduled to release in Japan sometimes this spring,
this game supports 2 players simultaneously.
Infogrames will release a new
sequel of the famous survival horror adventure game Alone In the Dark for
Playstation in US this fall. In this game you play as the main character
from the series Edward Carnby, who has the ability to recognize evil upon
first sight. The story begins with an unexplained murder of your friend
Charles Fiske, on an island called Shadow Island. You mission is to avenge
for your friend and find out the mysteries behind the murder, you will face

Namco revealed more details on their Playstation 2 fighting game Tekken Tag Tournament, which is scheduled to release in Japan on March 30. This game will have 7 play modes: Arcade, Versus, Team Battle, Time Attack, Survival, Practice and Option. A new 4 players mode will be added to the game, although the game doesn't allow 4 players to fight simultaneously, but you get to control your own character when he / she is switched to the foreground, as well as when you perform tag combos during the match. SCE Japan announced that the Playstation 2 supports multi layer DVD-ROMs, it is able to read DVD-ROMs from 4GB to 17GB capacity, including single layer, double layer, single sided or double sided discs. their Playstation 2 table game Billiards Master 2

this futuristic plane racing game is currently 60% completed. During the
race, a section of the track contains an energy recharge field, which allows
