Wanted Games in Japan 1. Dragon Quest VII (Enix
PS) Sony is going to release a 15" LCD TV
specially designed for Playstation and Playstation 2; the TV comes with
AV, VGA output, Memory Stick port and Playstation ports. This LCD TV will be retail for around 150,000 yen in
Japan next spring. Other than the 15" LCD TV, Sony will also be
releasing a new 3D sound speaker for Playstation 2 on March 4, 2000, for
18000 yen. Sony will release the sequel to their hit Playstation
puzzle game XI, entitled Xi [sai] Jumbo in Japan on December 9. T&E Soft's Playstation 2 title Golf
Paradise is scheduled to release on March 4, 2000 for 5800 yen. This
game supports up to 4 players simultaneously, featuring a Promotion Story
Mode, in which you can choose from 7 different characters and train him /
her from amateur to a tour professional. You can also generate your own
golf courses using the new auto course generation system Genesys-G, with
your own parameters, and trade the courses with your friends.
A new Pocket System
is introduced to Sony's upcoming Playstation action RPG Alundra 2.
You can place up to 3 items in the pocket for quick access during
battles by pressing the R2 button. There are 4 elemental spirits in the
world: Wind Pixie, Water Seilane, Soil Doriahd, and Fire Salamander. Once
you acquired them you will be able to cast elemental magic, and by putting
them in the pocket, you will gain new abilities, such as surfing in the
air, walk on lava or dive under water. Other than earning money from
battles, many rare recovery and supplementary items can be earned from
battling with monsters. There are fragments of puzzle which has scattered
all over the world, by collecting and take the pieces to the Puzzle
Mania's House, you will be reward with new special attack techniques.
There are over 10 kinds of mini games in the world of Alundra 2, you will
receive special awards by winning the mini games. Alundra 2 is scheduled
to release in Japan on November 18.
Square announced that they will have two
Playstation 2 titles ready at the PS2 launch (one of which is The
Bouncer), and there will be two more titles coming out around next summer,
after the PS2 launch. Enix has revealed the story highlight of
their upcoming Playstation RPG Dragon Quest VII, the hero is the son of a
fisherman, living in a peaceful small island where the world is exactly
like Eden. One day the hero found a mysterious lithograph from a certain
event, and the image of a strange new continent was carved there. Slowly
the hero and his friends discover the existence of other invisible
continents in the world and begin their adventure to discover the mystery
of the world and the lithograph. In the game you can discover new
continents by placing the appropriate lithographs onto the pedestals. In
the battles, the monsters will lineup in front and back rows, the monsters
in the front row will have higher attack power and lower defense, while
backrow monsters will have higher defensive power. There is a job system
in this game, which enable you to learn special skills out of a job, there
are senior jobs that are only selectable after you have completed two or
more jobs. And for final note, the game will have lighting fast loading
speed, disc access will be almost non-existence in the game. Dragon Quest
VII is scheduled to release on December 29 in double CD set, for 7800 yen. Namco is planning to release Tekken Tag Team Battle and Ridge Racer V at the launch day of Playstation 2.
