A boy falls asleep in an old abandoned house, and has a knightmare in which he is transformed in a vampire.

At first, it was imagined simply as scenes out of a context while listening to The Cure's Kyoto Song. These scenes became ideas for a story about a knightmare, which ended by merging into another film project, a modern vampire story inspired mainly by Fright Night and The Lost Boys.

It was decided to call it "The Knightmare", but name would be in German. "Die Nachttr�um" should mean "The Knightmare", but it is not correct. The correct name would be "Der Alptraum". Anyway, when we found out the mistake, it was already too late.

A draft was written, and then it got expanded to a detailed screenplay for a spoken short movie, with new characters and new scenes.

During the preproduction, this film seemed to be the koboldian blockbuster: fake teeth were specially made by professionals, costumes were specially made, lots of sites were selected to be filmimg location, copies of the screenplay were given to the actors.

The original forecast was to shot it in three days, maximum four, during winter vacation in July. But it didn't happen that way. Shooting lingered for two weeks, and the mood of the crew decresed everyday.

After shooting was complete, other films were being made, while "Die Nachttr�um"s edition seemed too far. In December, we decided to use the footage we had to edit a Quick Movie version of the film. We took the original screenplay and made a non spoken shorter version out of it. A lot of scenes were cut and the order of some others changed. We intended to edit it in the original version later on, but that never happened.

The story changed into something else. It is still a modern vampire movie within a knightmare. In fact, as dialogues and entire scenes were cut, the story becomes so weird - with characters that apparently do not relate to each other - that only as a dream, senseless as they are, it can be explained.

It is not a colorful movie, and was never intended to be. It is a dark movie, cold and morbid. And this atmosphere is also increased by The Sisters of Mercy's Flood I.
