Synopsis
This Quick Movie is about a boy who is camping with a friend, and right after waking up one day, he experiences a series of delusions evoking death.
Some words about "Delusion"
The basic idea for this movie was given to me by an uncle of mine some time before, who had told me of old friends that made an amateur Super-8 short film about a guy having delusions during a party.
It was the first Saturday of my winter vacation, back in 1988, when I woke up in the mood to shoot a film, that I returned to this idea. I wanted to do something quick, as it would be a Quick Movie, so I didn't really want to set up a party, I wanted something simplier. In fact, I didn't have to use the same context as the original idea, and I didn't. The context changed from a party to a camping. One of the boys would wake up and face a series of strange occurences. At the end, they would prove themselves to be delusions.
It was a simple story, not demanding many resources. It was also not a particularly creative story. The strange occurences, within this context, should be creative. And considering all the improvisation and lack of resources, I guess they were.
The shooting was very much influenced by what could be achieved through the editing, not only for some tricks like the hanging, but the whole story itself. It became a hide-and-seek game, a mouse and cat chase, where someone is playing with one's own imagination.
Besides editing, the sound track contributed to the rhythm of the film. Sisters of Mercy's This Corrosion is a great song that fits perfectly into the movie.
This Quick Movie has basicly only one scene, that could belong to another film. But it is nice to be seen just as it is.
