Some Words About The Movies Most of the films produced by Kobold Pictures are Quick Movies, meaning not only that they are short, but mainly that they were quickly made, hardly having a screenplay or production prior to the shooting. This means that many improvisation took place on these films. The most obvious exceptions being Die Nachtträum and Spy Story, and maybe, Museu de Cera. Typically, a Quick Movie would be produced in three phases: shooting, video editing and audio editing. The first film by Kobold Pictures, Delusion, was produced in 1988, and the last one, A Prisão, in 1992. Most of them have the same supernatural background in the plot, exceptions being Mission, Naked, Poquer Interminável, Spy Story and A Prisão. All of them (with one exception being Poquer Interminável) are original stories from Kobold Pictures. Most of them are not spoken (exceptions being Poquer Interminável, Spy Story and A Prisão), having mainly only music in the audio track. All of them were directed by Pedro L. B. Daldegan, and had at least one of the other four members of the group in the cast. In most cases there were also other friends or relatives acting in the films, although as guest actors (or actresses), not being official members of Kobold. All of them were shot with a domestic VHS camcorder, and edited with two domestic VCRs. Most of the "Some words about..." texts concerning the movies in their pages were written in 1989 and 1990 in Cologne, while I was living in Germany as an exchange student. They were translated to English as these pages were being built. It is also important to notice that this one year period represented a gap in Kobold Pictures filmmaking, as I was the director of the movies. |
