Peter Wingfield

PWFC con, 2002 Copywrite A. Cronin

Peter Wingfield is an excellent actor, who has done many things, including TV, radio and the stage. Here are the roles we know about!

Theater

1.ILLUSIONIST (approx.1978) ONDINE Done in High School. This chararacter shows up as an Illusionist that can control time, and ends up being "The Old One" or king of the Ondine faeries. Whether Peter played the other "identities" is uncertain.
2.FRANSICO (1980?) THE TEMPEST Who could easily have been "A Man". Another school play. He's a Lord and had hardly anything to say in the play.
3. FRANK N’ FURTER (1986-7) ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Bart's Drama Studio, London)

Who hasn't seen this? Well, of course, we've never seen it with Peter! The picture was put together and is not a *real* shot. I think he destroyed all evidence of this.

4.HOSS (1986-7) THE TOOTH OF CRIME (Oxford Playhouse, Edinburgh Fringe Festival)

A Rock Star / anarchist. The play was written by Sam Shepherd, who is an actor you may have seen.

5. HAMLET (1986-7)HAMLET Valentine Pelka also did Hamlet on stage - it is a plumb role!!
6. SHYLOCK (sometime in the 80's) MERCHANT OF VENICE This is the "Hath Not a Jew Eyes?" man. But he is also the one who wanted the pound of flesh.
7. PETRUCHIO (don't know year) TAMING OF THE SHREW We knew he was in this play, not who, until Peter mentioned who he was in a chat.
8. BANQUO (don't know year) MACBETH

I hadn't known about this one at all, but it was mentioned in the same chat!

9. TYBALT (don't know year) ROMEO AND JULIETTE Apparently Peter did his share of Shakespeare, but we do not know if they were only school productions.
10. EDGAR (sometime in the 80's) KING LEAR Edgar is the legitimate son of an Earl whose illegitimate brother wants to usurp him. Mostly, though, Edgar likes to pretend madness and dress in costumes.
11. SIR THOMAS MORE (late 80s) A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS Peter spoke of this one at a convention, but we have no idea when he did it. Since he mentioned it the same time as the Shakepeare "guys", we'll put him here.
12. SUPERMAN (late 80s) This was done, apparently, while Peter was in Med School! Padding had to be added to the costume.
13. MARTIN WELFORD (1992) POINT VALAINE (Chichester Festival Theater) Martin is a pilot, but he went down in the jungle and spent thirteen days lost. He wound up with blood poisoning and this has had lingering effects on his health.
14.MIGLIORITTTI (1992) THE RULES OF THE GAME He is a Marquis who is great with a blade. In the play, the main Female character uses him to set up the main Male. Apparently, there's little chance of winning a duel against the Marquis!
15. "JACK" DURRANT (1993) THE GAME OF LOVE AND CHANCE We have pictures of this one, and a summary of the play, but it is difficult to figure him out besides trying to woo an older woman. He apparently pretends to be a Chauffeur. There is no video available.
16. JOE MITCHELL (1999) WAITING FOR LEFTY (National Theater 4th March) Joe is a cabbie, but he is American, a victim of the depression, and hard pressed to make a living.
17. SID PHILLIPS (1999) WAITING FOR LEFTY (National Theater 4th March) Sid is also a cabbie . . . but he is younger than Joe. Unmarried, Sid had a fiancee for three years, but couldn't marry her due to money worries.

Radio Plays

18. GUY CURRAN (approx 1990-91) GOING WRONG (RADIO 4) Lower class boy makes good - or bad, as the case may be - his money comes from drug deals and dodgy art! All he really knows is that he loves a girl named Leonora (Leo). But they grow apart. At least, she grows apart from HIM. Tapes are available of this.
19. SIMON PEMBERTON (1995-97) THE ARCHERS (BBC Radio4) Land agent. A ruthless business man who rarely pays any mind to the feelings of others. Also has a tendency to hit women. Not good. But hey, he was the most hated man in Britain at one time!
20. MARK (1996) IF YOU'RE SO CLEVER, WHY AREN'T YOU RICH (BBC Radio4) Peter played two different men in this play, but Barry was also in A Nice Day At the Office, which was a TV show (we have never been able to find!) Mark is a casting agent.

Commercials

21. LAGER DRINKER (1990) TENNANT'S LOW ALCOHOL LAGER Thanks to Lorraine, for telling us about this one! He's a young hero who won't let a young girl be cheated at a carnival.
22. JIMMY (1993-4) SEGA COMMERCIALS This one has just surfaced. There was a web page with two of the commercials Peter was on when he was the poster boy for the pre-Game boy world, but they have already been taken down.
23. "BERTIE" (Our name; not sure of year, but probably after 1996 - he has shorter hair.) STELLA ARTOIS (Commercial called “EASY RIDER”) This one-minute commercial shows a nerdy man with glasses going into a biker bar and drinking someone else’s beer.

TV/Film

24. DRIVER (1990) ANTONIA AND JANE This one is a cab driver, and had about two lines. Peter's first movie role! He said he got it because he knew how to drive. They had cast someone else who couldn't!
25. ALEX TAYLOR (1990) MEDICS (Granada TV) A student who made a major mistake in Med School. Later he repented, and completed his studies, but it was much harder and he learned a lesson about having to work for what he wanted.
26. LT. NICK PASCO (1990) SOLDIER SOLDIER (Central TV) Officer in the English Army. This was from the first series of Soldier, Soldier, which was in the early 90s, and they discuss the Gulf War a lot.
27. TOM WALTON (1990) THE MEN'S ROOM (BBC TV) Young man, probably 19 or so-girl crazy, dates (and sleeps) around. Bit of a brat. Certainly needs some growing up. We only have one show from this series.
28. FOURTH ACTOR (1992) SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR (BBC2) Not much Peter here. The show is in Black and White. We see him doing his line as an actor, then he has maybe two more lines; he dances with the girl but only very briefly.
29. PAUL GREAVES (1992) TRUST ME (BBC TV) Paul is the younger brother and works for the defense department. His older brother is a compulsive liar who gets everyone around him in trouble.
30. MAX LAPENA (1994) UNCOVERED Max really just wants to make some money off a certain painting, and whoever has the money, has Max.
31. ALUN LEWIS (1994) ALUN LEWIS: DEATH AND BEAUTY (BBC Wales) Welsh Poet who killed himself in 1944, during World War II.
32. RUFUS MYERS LLOYD (1994) LIFEBOAT (BBC TV) Rufus is a Welshman whose mother is a *Lady*, so Rufus is rather well-spoken. He's had a history of drug abuse and is a bit of a scoundrel, but he gets more than paid back for his sins.
33. PHILIP PRYCE-SMITH (1994) DEGAS AND PISSARRO FALL OUT This one is a very committed television Producer. To say this guy is hyper and ambitious is putting it mildly!
34.BARRY (1994) NICE DAY AT THE OFFICE (BBC TV) But also from a later radio show called IF YOU'RE SO CLEVER, WHY AREN'T YOU RICH?(1996). In the radio show, he managed a phone sex service! He was a management consultant in “NICE DAY ”, but I read somewhere that Peter said it was the same character. Hmn. He calls himself the "God of Sales" in the radio play, which we have. We h ave not gotten video of the series yet.
35. D.S PETER DYSON (1994) MURDER IN MIND (BBC Screen One) Pete is a young man who has a bit of a rough accent, but who is obviously bright. They call him the "Whiz Kid". He's a Detective Sgt. with the police, and when a Detective Inspector looks to be getting into something unethical, Pete pushes for an investigation.
36. DANNY (1994) CROCODILE SHOES Manager of musical artists. He deals drugs and can get them easily if anyone needs, but unlike the main character, he can put it aside if it gets too hot.
37. JOHN WESTLOCK (1994) MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT (BBC TV, later aired on PBS) Obviously a man of standing, although he trained as an architect. This takes place in the 1880's; he looks very much like Dr. Adams (Methos) from "The Modern Prometheus".
38. DOMINIC CASEMENT (1995) A VERY OPEN PRISON (BBC TV) Press Secretary. At least I think that's what he does. He works for the Home Secretary and tells him what has been written about him in the papers that day.
39. KARL CANDY (1995) INTO THE FIRE (BBC TV) Son of a factory owner, but he wears a suit. Although he is not in the show much, he looks very tasty. . . Peter said he worked for the family, selling the items they manufactured, which explains why Karls says he "make[s] a living with [his] mouth!"

Methos

40."METHOS" (1995) HIGHLANDER (Syndicated world-wide) Because of the complexity of this character, I have broken him down into his many parts.
40a. MODERN METHOS The combination of all the other parts, and the only one that can really say he is 5,000 years old!
40b. ADAM PIERSON Adam is the "blend into the background" one. He's the Watcher, the romantic, and the obviously young man one. Not quite so jaded, he can step aside when Modern Methos emerges to give us all a pearl of wisdom or dry wit.
40c. BRONZE AGE METHOS Just call him Death on a Horse!! This guy was one of the Four Horsemen, and therefore one of the baddest of the bad. But was he that bad back then? Peter and Val say yes.
40d. DOC ADAMS I think this is the identity Methos took when he was trying to get away from The Game. Instead of killing, he'd heal! He is very romantic, too.
40e. ALTERNATE REALITY METHOS Alternate Universe Methos! Another bad boy Methos, but in true Duncan-esque fashion, he only turned bad when his heart was broken.

TV/Film (cont)

41. GILES (1995-6) MURDER MOST HORRID: "A Life Or Death Operation" Very good doctor, but young. He kept an eye on a lady surgeon whe was trying to kill a patient, and he has a cute sense of humor.
42. IAN TULLY (1996) OVER HERE (BBC TV) Officious Aide De Camp to a Captain during World War II. He is pretty anal retentive, and very uptight, but we love him. He was a flop with women in the movie, but he had plenty of ego!
43. TOM KIRBY (1997) NOAH'S ARK (Carlton TV) Veterinarian who leaves a big city practice to help his ailing father in the country. He's restless, though, and refuses to stay forever.
44. SCOTT BRUENELL (1998) THE SENTINEL "Foreign Exchange" (UPN) Scot is an assassin and a crook, who has no compulsion about killing innocent bystanders. He is very bright but lost in a fight to a GIRL!
45. GILES SETON (1998) VIPER "About Face" (UPN) This one is an Engineer. And although he has very few scruples, I think he would not have gone as bad if he hadn't gotten the sack! He seemed very proud of his work. (By the way, that is NOT a Yorkshire accent!)
46. SIMON ROSS (1998) COLD SQUAD (CTV) This one is an Inspector whose job was to handle the political side of police work. In Cold Squad he is brought in to get things back on track, but I guess he failed because the squad was ripped apart and all the regulars fired.
47. TERRANCE SHEPHERD (1999) STRANGE WORLD (20th Century FOX, but aired on ABC) This show was quickly canceled, but SCI FI channel got it and has been airing it. As Peter said, he is the baddest of the bad (Worse than Bronze Age?)
48. CONRAD GORDON (1999) COLD FEET "The Strange Loves of Shelley Bumstead" (NBC) A writer of self-help marriage books. He looks great in that tux, and also in a shower with one of the cast members! The things dreams are made of! Again, only one of the two shows were aired before the show was axed.
49. DWIGHT BORDEN (2000) OUTER LIMITS "The Beholder" (Showtime)

Mr. Borden works for the NAS and it is his job to learn all he can about a certain alien life form.

50. Dr PAT HAIG (2000) THE DAMN DEAL (Private)

Dr. Pat is the author of "Johnny Get Your Pumps On", a book about cross dressers. Peter did this role for his good friend Elizabeth Gracen, and it is funny. The movie is only available through Liz.

51. MARK MASON (2000) THE MAN WHO USED TO BE ME (Fox Family)

He was described as another Borden, but he isn't. For one thing, he wears glasses! For another, Mark lacks the cold steel of Borden, making him a much nicer, (IMO) character.

52. HEBRON / TANITH (2000) STARGATE SG-1 (Showtime) A Goa'uld. There are actually two characters - the host body, Hebron, and the symbiont, Tanith. Three eps has quite a lot of Tanith; a fourth was aired but he was only CGI'd in.
53. DR. ROBERT HELM (2000) QUEEN OF SWORDS (Syndicated)

Helm is a doctor who was once a British soldier - apparently a spy during the Napoleonic Wars! Now he is is Spanish California, dealing with a small pueblo that has its share of wrongs to be righted.

54. DR.ROOK (2000) FIRST WAVE "Shadowland" (SCI FI channel) This one is an Alien Dr., set on finding the child who will eventually make it difficult for his people - the Gua - to take over Earth. The chosen boy (the star of the show when he was 12) is found but fortunately the news does not get back to the rest of the Gua, and he survives to adulthood. Rook is seen ONLY in dreams - recovered memories in a way - and the regression therapist is played by Jim Byrnes
55. DENVER LANE (2001) THE CHRIS ISAAK SHOW "It's the Music, Stupid!" (Showtime) Denver is an auctioneer and an appraiser - you know, like the Antique Road Show? Chris Isaak's manager likes him but is not very bright about using her female wiles to get him, and basically puts her foot in it time and time again!
56. "HUSBAND" (2001) NIGHT VISIONS "Still Life" (Fox)

This stars Mare Winningham as a wife and mother who is being stalked by strangers. Peter is her husband, but he is not actually given a name. CC called him "David".

57. ALEX (2001) HALLOWEENTOWN 2: KALABAR'S REVENGE (Disney) This is a sequel to a Disney channel movie - Peter plays a six foot Frog <g> It still repeats on the Disney Channel on Halloween! Yes, we do see him as a HUMAN!
58. STEVE BLAINE (2001) THE WEDDING DRESS (CBS) A sweet romantic drama that followed a very special wedding dress through five relationships. Steve is a contractor and a widow, father of two girls.
59. ERNIE SHERGOLD (2001) THE MIRAC LE OF THE CARDS (PAX)

The story is about a young boy who survived what appeared to be a brain tumor, but which ended up being a pearl? Richard Thomas was the doctor in this one, not our Peter. Peter was the boy's father.

60. WALTER MCBAIN (2002) THE EDGE OF MADNESS (A Wilderness Station) (Canadian Indp.)

Most of Peter's part has been chopped from this movie, which is only now available on DVD! But he does look quite different, having facial hair. He is a Presbyterian Minister who helps a frontier man find a wife.

61. GEORGE (2002) BLISS (Canadian) "Guys and Dolls" Very sexy show that aired on Canadian TV, now being shown on Oxygen in the states, but the tattoo on his bottom is cut from that version! Strangers meet and have an affair, getting in the way of business
62. Det. BRAD RYAN (2002) JUST CAUSE "Above the Law" (PAX) Peter guest stars as a "bad cop" in this series about a woman who was framed by her husband, gets out of jail on parole, and starts working for an attorney. Brad is bad news, and the ultimate in arrogance!
63. CAPTAIN MICHAEL KLEIN (2003) THE DEAD ZONE "Cabin Pressure" (USA) Johnny Smith has a vision that the plane he is on will blow apart. Now, does the Captain believe him?
64. KEN ROTHMAN (2003) JOHN DOE "Doe or Die" A former IA man takes hostages. One guess who the bad guy is! Oh well, he thinks he has a reason for threatening them with small pox!
65. LYMAN (2003) X Men 2 Henchman for the evil Striker, he did not have much of a character development.
66. KRAKAUER (2003) TOUCHING EVIL (Hughes Brothers) Cop whose wife had a disabled child, and who took it out on a suspect who was abusing children.
67. GENERAL LACH (2004) ANDROMEDA "The Others" (Syndication) Alien who was out for revenge. Apparently his people were dying because they were infected with a virus!
68. BENTON KNIGHT (2004) KINGDOM HOSPITAL "Heartless" Rich man, whose wife or girlfriend cheated on him. He kills her, and then tries to kill himself, but he lingers. Since he is an organ donor, they must then harvest his eyes and heart when he dies.
69. GERALD (2004) BLISS "Tying Up Gerald" Back to Bliss! Gerald likes it rough. HIs wife finds out, and tries to play.
70. SLAVICKY (2004) CATWOMAN Researcher who finds a miracle cream, but then notices it is not all it should be. When he tries to blow the whistle, someone silences him for good.
71. CROWE (2004) SUPERBABIES Side kick, basically, and a general loon - it is still fun to see him acting so silly.
72. MARCUS BECKER (2005) SMALLVILLE "Lucy" He's muscle in this one, sent to get Lois Lane's sister Lucy to pay up on a debt. Unconvincing German accent, or was he going for Austrian? Sounded like Gov. Arnold to me.
73. JACK CLOONEY (2005) MISS TEXAS (German TV) Rich Texan who whose romantic suit to a woman is rejected over time - he marries someone else.
