Dr Pat Haig, author of "Johnny Get Your Pumps." Okay, it is a joke - or is it? Personally, I don't understand having Peter dress in drag in a movie ABOUT drag Queens . . . Are they poking fun at their subjects or not? Is he supposed to be a woman, or a man dressed as a woman? WE know he is a man, but I get the impression he's supposed to be a woman, from some of the things he says.
At any rate, this was a favor for Elizabeth Gracen, who did this hour long, black and white documentary about gay men who dress as women and then compete in beauty contests. Not my cup of tea, but I think Peter's bits are hysterical. I just don't have that mentality so I miss the joke - or get the funny feeling they're playing both ends of the joke on itself, and while being sympathetic to these men they are also poking fun at them.
Haig's accent is German, so you get the feeling he is doing Dr. Ruth. The make up and outfit are just perfect for that - though the Adam's Apple slips out and the nose . . . well. Then again, she's not supposed to be a Super Model is she?
For viewability, I give it a 8 - it's black and white
For character, I give this one a 8 and a half - 10 if you're really into the joke. I don't give you anything for the rest of the movie.
Well, voice. Elizabeth Gracen is doing the interview. The only thing you see of her is her hand when she pulls satin draperies off in the opening credits.
