Dr. Robert Helm, seen here with Colonel Montoya, who you might know, was once a British officer . . . and a spy! After realizing that they thought he was as evil as he was thinking his ememies were, he quit the military and became a doctor. He answered an ad for Santa Elena, and there you have it. I suppose he spoke Spanish, having served in Spain against Napoleon. Helm is a complicated man, dedicated to saving lives. He is in the process of falling in love with the masked Queen of Swords, though he hasn't much use for her other identity, Maria Teresa Alvarado.
