It is something of a challenge to keep track of all the private language schools in Istanbul. Owners change, franchise names change, a little alien called ET grows up and takes over the private language school scene...Online forums are a great way to stay abreast of current issues. ESLCAFE is a good place to start, but has a reputation for crass censorship. As a result, the eltnet sprang into being where posters continue discussions. English First is a private language school that, as of late May 2007, has been doing quite well, and has been offering one of the best contracts I've seen on the private language school scene in Istanbul. This includes private health insurance, and excellent wages. It may also include a driver, if you're off site. (However, this doesn't guarantee that the driver isn't a doofi.) For QUALIFIED ESL teachers, it's a sweet deal. |
