| Taksim - one of my favourite locations in Istanbul. I worked at the Deulcom branch here - and was the only foreign teacher. The ET branch is in a pretty cool location. The square is a popular demonstration location. A downside - a consulate was blown up here within the last few years. On the plus side, there are movie theatres, old churches, great restaurants, lots of bars and cool shops. I just love walking around aimlessly here. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A shot of the Taksim location of ET below. Above, Istiklal Cad. There are internet cafes all over the place here. Plus, the Burger King up there is a very easy landmark and you can arrange to meet people there without worrying you won't be able to find it. | My experience teaching here has always been good. I was there in the later afternoon until the early evenings - summer, and I had the best students. Again, I'd have to think hard to recall students that I didn't enjoy. Oh yeah, two girls gave me grief once when I took over for a teacher who pulled a runner. He was British. I explained that I was not, and that was why they might detect a difference. They complained that they didn't want 'American English' and were put into another class. From what I could gather from the other students, that was just as well. The rest were awesome. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
