| Teacher Comments and other bits of Useful Info. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| English Time continues to get flack over their home-grown language books (see below). Molly has come to the books' defence several times, as have at least one or two other teachers on eslcafe. I think that the main issue or problem with the books is 1. the number of errors in the text, and 2. the oftentimes inappropriate examples given. Granted, the students are adult learners, but I know I'd be embarrassed trying to demonstrate 'rapist' to a class of beginners. That said, the ET chain is still growing. Teachers are still coming, and the dreaded text book is about to go into a second print. I will keep my eyes and ears open for additional comments about ET and post them here. If you have anything that you would like to say about ET, you can email me directly at [email protected]. I appreciate all insights. MAY 2007 |

ET teachers would be leaving en masse because of them, others cried. If ever one thing united the teachers of ET together, it is this pure, intense hatred of the in-house textbooks. Which the teachers produced.... What follows are bits and pieces of the threads from eslcafe regarding the books. I've provided the links to all threads so that you may revisit them should you require further information. Though the sky was dark, they still had Eva's cloning shower outside Tia went to the cloning shower even though she didn't like the hostess Neil likes to arrive early to a cloning, whereas his wife likes to arrive late While her mother wanted to buy Allie an expensive cloned rabbit, her father don't (sic) want to spend a lot of money. Mick likes to wear a black suit when he goes to an organ cloning. I need to buy a new suit soon, as I am going to be cloned next week. This is yaramaz! yaramaz (1) noun wanker yaramaz (2) adjective useless yaramaz (3) adjective naughty ......More from the ET coursebooks: (Subject: Specific Uses of the Passive Voice) The Soviet Union is an evil empire. An army marches on its stomach. The CIA assassinated John F. Kennedy. Nuclear power will bring peace and prosperity to the world. America is the land of the free. Aryans are the master race. They really are from the new ET coursebook and I suspect that you and I are not the only ones who are asking the same question, what the * beep* do these examples have to do with the passive? (Editor: a response to this will follow. See the link here. |
