SCORE ENGLISH
Whenever I come across information on language schools in Istanbul, I do what I can to research them and to provide links wherever possible.  With upstart language schools, however, this proves to be a difficult task.  Here one moment, gone the next.  Such is the nature of private language schools, especially ones just starting out.  This is why I'd think twice before signing on with any school that has been in operation less than four years, unless they are backed by a massive chain like Kultur, as ET was when they started.

This school is apparently located in Bakirkoy - which in itself is a haven for places like these. Large, young population all looking to learn English.  Supply and demand, all that jazz.

This information has come from just one source, from
Dave's ESL cafe. Like I've said with all other bits of info, opionions, and experiences I've re-created here, don't forget the sodium..
"Thought I'd pass this along.  Friend of mine got hired by Score English in Bakirkoy in December.  The idea was to start in January after Kurban Bayram.  He turned down offers from other schools because of this agreement.

Wel, after the Bayram (holiday - ed) no one was calling him.  He'd called but he was told he'd have his schedule the next day. Well, five odd days no one called or returned his calls.

Realising that this was dodgy he tried to move on to other offers, but they were gone.  Finally he was told that they didn't need him.   They didn't return his calls because they had 'lost' his telephone number despite having his CV, email  and number.  Well an hour later he spoke to the Principal, who told him he had been misinformed and would be given a schedule the next day.

Well for another five days he was messed around with.  No one would return his phone calls.  Finally after sending an email to the Principal  someone else replied that saying that no morning teachers were needed. Bear in mind he had been specifically hired to work the morning shift.  He had even been told the name of the client and the location.

What is terrible is that instead of wasting time in January he could have been working for another school. However in his zeal to be professional he tried to honour his agreement.  He'd lost about 500 TL after the K.Bay (holidays again - ed) and maybe another thousand for February.

I've tried to explain that when dealing with Course schools in Istanbul this is the norm.  They can't stop calling you when they need you.  However when they don't, you'll find that basic courtesy is not one of their strengths."
