Comments:  This is another high-profile Bakirkoy school, located right near the train station in a highly visible part of the Bakirkoy community.  At one point, there was four branches and about sixty teachers.  A recent development, however, may mean that the entire chain will no longer exist.  Which is a shame because it was such a good school.  British English.  I list the school here in case whichever company has bought it decides to continue in the business despite the takeover.

ILM Teacher opinions and experiences
I worked at the Bakirkoy branch of ILM in the summer, part-time. I had good classes there - the problem is never with the students.  There were good resources, but they are really lacking for hours in the off season (May-August). It has a good location, again, near the Train Station, upstairs, down a cool side street.  Across from a movie theatre. It started in 1982 and is still in operation.

There are four branches of Berlitz in Istanbul.  This chain typically requires that their teachers receive specific training in their methodology. There is some logic to this, as many TEFL certificate 'institutions' are fly-by-night operations and anyone with a pulse can usually get one.  However, what that means is that for however long the training is, as a new teacher, you do not get paid.  You will have to be willing to accept this.  A postitve note, though, for new teachers they provide a great deal of support and training, instead of being thrown a language book and a 'go get'em tiger' that many other schools offer instead.  Have not heard much feedback from Berlitz teachers.  People generally speak up when they have gripes, so that is something.
