SEPTEMBER 2007
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome back everyone!

First of all, I want to apologize to those faithful readers of the Pine Oaks Community Newsletter.  It appears we had some technical difficulties, by which I mean Melissa Landreth forgot to go to the copy shop and Fred Muldoon went on vacation.  But lets not use this space to place blame on anyone who deserves it; instead, lets look backward, to what happened last month.

August, as many of you should hopefully know, is when Pine Oaks comes together and celebrates Founders Day.  This year we forewent (fourwent?  four went where?) with the annual parade and concert, and instead focused our efforts on the Founders Day dinner.  And what a dinner it was!  The French Bread Connection provided a wonderful meal for us.  Mini French bread pizzas were the appetizers, followed by minestrone soup in a French bread bowl.  For an entre, the French bread-crusted tilapia was a treat, and the dessert of coffee cake topped by French bread crumbles was the perfect capper.  Our entertainment for the night, schoolchildren reading their essays What Pine Oaks Means to Me, was simply adorable.  My only regret for the evening was that I had to find the janitor to prod everyone awake.  My second only regret is that the Rembrandts cover band, Sons of Picasso, were apparently confused about whether or not they were supposed to play (they were not), and played to an empty field.  Well, not entirely empty, since Im sure they had roadies, or some such.

Finally, I have a very special, important, exciting announcement!  Pine Oaks will be the latest neighborhood to jump on the gazebo craze thats sweeping the nation.  But its not just some flash-in-the-pan, fly-by-night fad like pet hamsters.  No, a gazebo stands proudly for years, a testament for the ages, a monument to neighborhood excellence to be enjoyed by endless future generations.  The Pine Oaks gazebo will be built on the corner of Norwell St. and Gradshaw Blvd.

Hopefully this newsletter will reach you.  Its trying so hard!
