MARCH 2007
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Top o the March to ya!

The Pine Oaks Community Newsletter comes in like a lion this month, as I have some exciting news to announce!  The results of last months Pine Oaks motto contest, and the winner isPine OaksAnd You!  Thank to all of you who voted.  The results were tabulated by the Neighborhood Board in a special session last week, and the board members then voted among the top three vote-getters.  And thus, Pine Oaks motto was born!

As I mentioned last week, there are big things in store for our little community.  As we speak, Im negotiating terms with the local bus line to place our motto on the side, and one suggestion has been to place a Pine Oaks ad on shopping carts, in that place where they put real estate agents faces and the list that says canned green beans are in aisle 6.  So maybe well do that.

Sadly, not all news this month is happy news.  In what has become an all-too familiar pattern, we say goodbye to a local institution of the last few months.  On March 9, 2007, Lowells Wicker will shut its doors.  The store has brought us a lot of great memories since December, including the January 7-13 Wicker Wastebasket Wextravaganza, and last months Do They Know Its Wicker? Valentines Day sale.  I know my husband just loves the wicker watch fob I gave him.  If only I didnt have to sell his popsicle stick watch to do it

There is hope on the horizon, however.  In its place Pine Oaks Commons will proudly feature our newest local business, Delgados House of Womany Hats.  I know I speak for the entire Neighborhood Board when I say that Delgados will fill the womany hat niche that our fair community has sorely missed for so long.

Once again, thanks to everyone who voted in our neighborhood motto contest, and be sure to look for the winning entry to appear all over the place, including where youd least expect it!  (Well, probably not where youd least expect it.  That might be weird.  Plus, everyones least expected place is probably different, so that might be impossible as well.  But you know what I mean.)

And remember: Pine OaksAnd You!
