| MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Salutations, Pine Oaks! I hope this message finds you well. How could it not, given that you live in the Pine Oaks-iest neighborhood around? First, a bit of good news this month, then a bit of bad, Im afraid. First, the bad news. Last month, I told you that I mailed our application to the United States Bureau of Mottoes and Catchphrases, but Ron West, the account manager there, claimed they hadnt received it. I contacted Ron, and now he claims that he did receive it, but unfortunately that motto has already been claimed by Portfall, Michigan. Furthermore, and because of this fact, Ron told me that for the past several months, we have been using the motto suffix and You! in violation of U.S. law. He agreed not to prosecute our neighborhood, but it came as a great shock to me nonetheless. Ron did say well have to pick something else, and I asked Ron for some available options from which we could choose a new motto. None that he named were really what I would consider Pine Oaks motto material, but I was so flustered I selected a few choice selections. Instead of having the neighborhood vote on a motto again, I will bring the choices before the Community Board and have them vote on it. The prospective mottoes are: Pine Oaks Please Move Here You Are Cordially Invitedto Pine Oaks! Pine Oaks Just Minutes from Three Different Malls Pine Oaks Ample Parking Coming Soon While we arent having a neighborhood vote per se, if any residents want their input heard, please e-mail your selection to [email protected], or leave a message on our MySpace page, www.myspace.com/communitynewsletter. Second, the bad news. No wait, this is the good news. As you may have read on our MySpace page, Pine Oaks would like to welcome Everything Okra to our family of businesses. Everything Okra will occupy the Pine Oaks Commons space recently vacated by Delgados Womany Hats. We welcome Everything Okra, and hope that its owner James Thurdower enjoys a long and fruitful relationship with our little burg. Barbara Del Roca Pine Oaks Neighborhood Board President |
