HELP!!!

Obviously if you came to this page you are having a problem in your every-day Neopian life, or are trying to prevent a problem happening to you in your everyday Neopian life.  Or, you just wanted to look at all the links that are here.  Well, if you wanted help, you came to the right place.  I try to cover every kind of help you could possibly need, but if you have a problem, or know of a problem that I didn't post here, contact me. Thus begins the help.

Scammers and Hackers

Scammers and Hackers are, in my opinion,  the worst part of Neopets.  Scammers / Hackers try to get into your account to take your stuff and money, try to get you to give you items or money, and try to steal your account.  Here is a list of ways to be scammed, so if anyone tries to do this to you, don't listen to them.

(1) Through neomail or any other kind of messaging, aim, msn, chat boards, and so on, they simply ask for your password.

Do NOT fall for this.  Usually the people that get scammed like this are newbies, who are lured into giving away their password by people who promise free items or neopoints, which they can give you as long as they have your password. This is the oldest trick in the book, but new players don't know this, so beware.

(2) Shop scams... don't buy it!

These aren't near as common as they once were, thanks to the handy-dandy line between your shop description and your items to sell, and the report shop button at the top of the screen, but some scammers still try it.  What they do is put a picture of a valuble item, like a faerie, paintbrush, or krawk petpet in their shop.  Then they make it look like you can buy it for like, 5 np.  So you click on the item to buy it and it takes you to a place where it says suddenly that you haven't logged in yet.  Now, here is where you should really listen.  At the top of the page, at the address bar, it will say something like www.neopetz.com or www.neapets.com.  Or the scammer could be really stupid and it could be www.angelfire.com/neopets.  So this means it is a scammer's site.  If you log in here your username and password will be on it's way to the scammer, and soon they will be in your account stealing your items and np... and *gulp* maybe abandoning your pet.  It is imperative that you don't fall for it like i once did when i was a newbie.  Watch out... if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

(3) E-Mail Changing?  No Way!

Ok, so someone contacts you in some form of communication and asks you to change your e-mail, that way they can give you tons of np and items.  You think, okay, and head to user prefs to change your e-mail to what they said to change it to.  But before you fall for this one, stop and think a second.  Changing your e-mail is the same as giving away your password!  Because as long as the e-mail of your account is changed to theirs, they can go to the lost-password box under the sign-in boxes in the log-in... and type your username in there!  Then, your password would appear in their e-mail, not yours, and they could get into your account!  Beware of E-Mail!

(4) High Bidding, Or Just Simply Trading Not on the Trading Post

Let's say someone posts on the chat boards "Whoever Bids Higest on My Trades Gets a secret!"  Or a grundo warehouse code, or a neopet (which is illegal to sell neopets btw).  You think, if someone bids on that, how do they know the person is going to actually give them what they said?  They don't.  Don't trade unless you are on the Trading Post, and unless you see what they are going to give back to you first.  This is the only safeist way to trade.

(5) Fake Neopoint / Item Programs

Some people have a site and make a so-caled "Neopoint Generator" on it.  On these "Neopoint Generators" there is a form you have to fill out, which has your username, the number of neopoints you want, which items you want, and your password.  Anything that needs your password to do something screams SCAM in bright, flashing neon-yellow letters, yet some people still fall for it, and end up with their accounts hacked. DO NOT fill out any form that asks for your password, unless it might be on Neopets, like the sign in and user prefs.  That's pretty much all that is safe to put your password into.

(6) Chat Board Stars

On the Chat Boards (particularly the Help Chat which is despiseable, since its everything BUT help) there is a scam going around.  Fortunatly, many chatters have learned to recognize this one, but every once in a while it catches a few people.  A person makes a message on the chat board and inside it posts something like:
Wow! Neopets is soooo smart!  When you type your password in chat it comes out as *'s!  Here's mine! ********!  Not only does it come out in stars, it increases your chance of finding things!  I already found two paintbrushes!
Of course, this is a scam.  If you type your password on the chat boards it shows up.  It does NOT come out as stars, and does NOT make you have a better chance of finding good items.

Hopefully by now you can sense a scam the next time you see one, and will never get hacked.  Believe me, I've heard stories about people who've lost millions of np.  Good luck, and good bye!

(If you know of any other scams that i didnt list here, please contact me at arcticfox903, thanks!)
