Hi, Minna-San. I was just listening to one of my all-time fav songs, and decided to write this little fic. This is my first song fic, so dont flame me if its bad. And see, this involves Eriol doing non-evil acts! Li-Chan wins! BWHAhahahahahahahahahahaha!
CCS isnt mine, its CLAMPs, and I Dont Want To Miss A Thing isnt mine, either, its Aerosmiths.
What I Dont Want To Miss.
By Li-Chan.
I could stay awake,
Just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you were sleeping
While youre far away and dreaming
She looked so beautiful. All he wanted to do was comfort her, to stop her tears. He didnt even know why she was crying; all he knew was that with every tear she shed, his heart tore a little bit more. He walked up to her and put his arm around her shoulder. He tried to look into her beautiful blue eyes, but she turned away from him, as though looking upon him would make her fall to pieces. TomoyoDaijoubu desu ka?
I could spend my life
In this sweet surrender.
I could stay lost in this moment
Forever.
Every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure.
Eriol, leave, O-Negai? I want to be alone. She turned away still more, leaving him to feel as heartbroken as her.
Tomoyo
Eriol, go.
Alright. If you need anything, just call me. Ill be there for you, you know that.
I know. But this isnt something I want to discuss, not with you. Not with anyone but someone who I know I can trust.
Tomoyo, dont be silly. You can trust me! Me, and Sakura, and Syaoran. All of us are here for you.
I know. Just please, leave.
Okay. He got up to leave, and as he passed through the doorway, he turned back. Tomoyo Aishiteru.
I know! Now get out of here! Tomoyo yelled, sobbing and hurling a large pillow at his head. Eriol ducked, and it hit one of the maids. Damn. I missed!
Tomoyo Eriol said, so quietly, he could barely hear it.
I dont want to close my eyes
I dont want to fall asleep
Cause Id miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing
And even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
Id still miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing.
He had a dream about her that night. He dreamt that she was crying, and that he couldnt stop the tears from flowing, no matter what he did. He didnt like this, because it made him feel like he had hurt her somehow. But he had no idea what he had done. Eriol, leave, O-Negai? I just want to be alone. The words rang in his mind, repeating themselves over and over in his dream. No! Stop! I wont leave, Tomoyo! Tell me whats wrong! Please! He shouted each time the words were spoken. He awoke, dripping in cold sweat. He was screaming, and Nakuru was beside him, trying desperately to wake him.
Master! Master, are you alright?
Huh? Oh! Yes, Im fine. Bad dream, thats all.
You spoke of Tomoyo in your dream.
Oh. She was so upset today. I havent the faintest why, but she was.
Nakuru looked away for a second, then turned back before Eriol noticed. Im sure she was just upset about a bad grade or something, Master. She lied, knowing exactly why she had been upset. Tomoyo had called the night before, shortly after Eriol had gone to bed. She had told Nakuru exactly why she had been crying. Nothing to worry about.
Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I wonder what youre dreaming
Wondering if its me youre seeing.
Just propose to her, Eriol. Syaoran said as the two talked on the phone later that day. Ever since Syaoran had moved back to Hong Kong, and took Sakura, his new fiance, with him, the two had become closer friends than they had been when they could talk face-to-face. Thats what I did, and now look where Sakura and I are. We couldn't be happier."
Syaoran, I'm not sure it works that way." Eriol saidwioth a sweatdrop forming on his brow.
"Eriol, it works. Sakura and Tomoyo are twins that come from different parents. They like the same stuff, and they have a good sense of when to say 'yes' to a marriage proposal." Eriol heard a soft thump, meaning Sakura had slapped him for that last comment. "Ow."
Eriol laughed. "Smooth move, Li. But are you sure? She seemed really upset about something."
I don't know why she's upset, but I know why I am. Sakura just hit me. And, believe it or not, when she slaps you, it hurts." Syaoran chuckled from the other end of the phone.
Poor baby. Eriol sneered sarcastically.
Shut up. Anyway, seriously, just pop the question. Shell flip, fall into your arms, sob openly for a minute, and then say in a sweet and adorable voice Oh, Eriol! Of course I will! Trust me.
Youre sure?
Positive. Thats what happened when I asked Sakura. There was a short break and a smacking sound, signaling that Sakura had just kissed him. It works."
"So, what you're saying is that proposing to Tomoyo will will her feel better, and then she won't cry anymore?"
"it's not guarenteed, but it'll help." Syaoran stated truthfully.
Hmm. I'll think about it. Oh well, shes got to tell me sometime, right?
Yep. Syaoran paused for a second again. Mm. Sakura, I love you.
Syaoran, Im not Sakura.
I know. But she just kissed me again. But hey, I gotta go. I think Mother wants me for something." Indeed, Eriol could hear Yelan Li's voice shouting in Chinese on the other end of the phone. "Ja ne. And good luck with Tomoyo."
And I kiss your eyes
And thank God were together
And I just want to stay with you
In this moment forever.
Forever and ever and
A week later, Eriol showed up at Tomoyos house, though she had not been to school at all. He knocked softly on the door, and she came out to greet him. Konnichiwa, Eriol.
Tomoyo, may I come in?
I guess. She motioned for him to come inside, and the first thing he noticed was that all the curtains were drawn, and the living room smelled very strongly of incense.
Tomoyo, what happened to you? Papers were scattered around, and nothing was neat and orderly, as it usually was when Tomoyo was involved.
"Nothing.
Tomoyo, theres something that I need to ask you Eriol played with the small velvet box that was stashed in his inside coat pocket. He kneeled down onto one knee, and Tomoyo just stood, staring at him with bloodshot eyes and no expression on her usually cheery face. Daidouji Tomoyo, he grabbed her hand, and pulled the box from its hiding place. Will you marry me?
Huh? Oh, Eriol! I cant! Theres no way! Id never be the wife you think Id be. Nor for long, anyway. I dont think we could even get married! Theres so little time until
Until what?
Eriol, Nakuru didnt tell you?
Tell me what?
I dont want to close my eyes
I dont want to fall asleep
Cause Id miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
Id still miss you, baby
And I dont want to miss a thing.
Cancer? How? Eriol said, sitting on the sofa next to a grief-stricken Tomoyo.
I dont know. The doctors have no clue. Its just a brain tumor thats been developing since I was a little kid. For almost nine years now. Eriol pulled the girl into a hug and refused to let go.
I wont let you go. I love you too much. Eriol still refused to let go of the girl. Tomoyo was thankful to have such a sweet guy care about her like that. I dont want you to leave me. Id miss you too much. I dont want to miss you.
And I dont want to miss one smile
I dont want to miss one kiss.
I just want to be with you
Right here with you
Just like this.
And I just want to hold you close
And feel your heart so close to mine.
And just stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Eriol sat silently in the funeral home about a year later. Tears fell down his cheeks and onto his pants. He let them fall, for he felt there was nothing he could do but cry. Tomoyo had died a week before, and there was nothing that could be done to change it. A strong hand clamped onto Eriols shoulder and the boy looked up to see Syaoran standing over him.
Its okay, Eriol. Syaoran said, sitting next to his friend. We all have to lose someone sometime. I lost my dad when I was six, and my mother still blames me for his death.
How did you kill him?
I didnt. She just says that Dad worked harder to train me than he even cared about the rest of his family. She says that I was the center of his attention; I was his favorite, because I was his only son. She says I caused him to overwork, and thats how he got sick. In truth, it was the same thing that took Tomoyo from us. No one knew he had cancer until the autopsy. Only his wasnt brain cancer, it was lung.
He didnt smoke, did he?
Of course not. You don't need to be a smoker to get lung cancer.
Do you feel like youre responsible for it, though?
No. Syaoran answered truthfully. And you shouldnt feel responsible for Tomoyos demise. No one can really be blamed. Its just how everything works.
I know youre right, but I still dont like it. I proposed to her, and she told me.
Thatll teach you to follow my advice. Syaoran joked. Eriol smiled for the first time in a week. He even let out an amused sigh.
Arigato, Syaoran.
Any time, Eriol, any time. Syaoran stood and went to Sakura. She smiled at Eriol and went to the casket. She said her goodbyes to her best friend and moved away. Tomoyo had been the Maid of Honor at Sakura and Syaoran's wedding two months before.
A glimmer appeared next to Sakuras eye. She was crying. She held her stomach, as if in pain. Thats when Eriol noticed a slight bulge.
Syaoran, Sakuras
Yeah. Shes due to have the baby in March.
Congrats, Syaoran.
Thanks. Syaoran turned back to his wife, but then after a moment, looked at Eriol again. When we found out about it, Sakura suggested something, but then we heard about Tomoyoscondition, and decided against it.
What? What was it?
Eriol, we were wondering if youd like to be a godfather.
Sure. Eriols eyes dried for a moment, and he smiled. Maybe not everything was going wrong in his life, after all.
I dont want to close my eyes
I dont want to fall asleep
Cause Id miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing.
And even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
Id still miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing.
I dont want to close my eyes
I dont want to fall asleep
Cause Id miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing
Sakura gave birth to a healthy baby girl on March 3rd, exactly six months from Tomoyo's birthday. Eriol and Naoko were named the Godparents of Tomoyo Chanda Li, and for the first time in months, it felt to Eriol as thoguh his Tomoyo had come back to him.
And even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
Id still miss you, Baby
And I dont want to miss a thing
I dont want to close my eyes
And I dont want to fall asleep
I dont want to miss a thing.

Once again, I cant type when I cant see the keys. Im crying too hard. That was so sad! WHAA! ((Bursts into uncontrollable tears.)) Syaoran was so sweet! I never thought he could be so sensitive!
Syaoran: Whats that supposed to mean?
Eriol: It means youre a regular sweetie, Syaoran.
Syaoran: Me? Get real, Hiiragizawa! And you, ((Turns to Li-Chan)) whats the deal with me and Hiiragizawa getting along? You know this is fiction if the two of us are having a conversation like that.
Shush, dear Syaoran-Kun. I could have done it so that Sakura dies instead of Tomoyo. Its not that hard, just change all Eriols to Syaorans and all the Tomoyos to Sakuras. Its really easy.
Syaoran: Shut up.
