Card Captors review.

Card Captors, though made by the same people, same animation studio, and even having the same art as CardCaptor Sakura, is not the same as the original Japanese version. Now, I usually dont review dubs separately, but CC and CCS are almost different shows. Nelvana, the company that dubbed the CardCaptor Sakura anime, made major changes that outraged American fans of the show. Now, there are other dubbed versions of the anime that I will not comment on, because I have only seen the English version. The Nelvana abomination known as Card Captors was horrible from the very start. For starters, Nelvana decided to start the series with episode 8, rather than episode 1. In CC episode 1, a bratty kid named Li Showron (Syaoran Li in the Japanese version) comes and demands that Sah-KOO-ruh give him the Clow Cards (Clow rhyming with cow, instead of glow). Sah-KOO-ruhs brother, Tory, (Touya) sees Li (at least they didnt spell it Lee) Attacking his sister, and hops the fence to help. All the while, Sakuras best friend, Madison Taylor (could they think of a worse name for Tomoyo?) is worried, but too busy worrying about her precious video camera to care about her best friend.
The voices for CC couldnt have been worse. Instead of sounding like adorable, nave, ten-year-old kids, the main characters (Since they decided to make Li a main character, since hes originally secondary) sound like theyre sixteen-year-old punks with head colds. They even made Kero sound threatening, when hes actually a sweetie, and made Meiling, Syaorans cousin, sound like a brat (Okay, she already was, but they made her sound more like one.) When Eriol (Changed to Eli) came around, his deep Clow Reed voice, which was already creepy, took on a new level of creepiness when he started sounding like a serial killer.
Nelvana managed to screw up the plot, too. Remember when I said they started with episode 8? Well, then they went to episode 13, and halfway through the season, they had episode 3. Even later, they tried and failed to make a flashback of the first episode of the Japanese series (it was obviously the first episode with a little bit about Sakura capturing the Sand Card at the start and end of the episode.)
To sum up, CC BAD, CCS VERY GOOD. If youre considering getting into CCS, and you live in America, steer clear of Card Captors, and dont be fooled into thinking its the same thing. So what if you can understand what theyre saying without subtitles? There were so many cuts in this 39-out-of-the-original-70-episodes series that youd think the evil serial killer that provided the voice of Eli Moon had gotten his hands on it. There is nothing good to say about this series; except that CLAMP and Kodansha revoked the rights that Nelvana had gotten in order to dub it in the first place. This dub, being as bad as it is, deserves nothing more than a 50%, which is a big fat F. The only I reason I went that high is because it was dubbed from CCS, which I love. One last thing to say about this horrid dub of the cutest anime ever:

AVOID THIS DUB AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!
