CardCaptor Sakura review CCS is one of my favorite anime ever. It has the cutest plot and even cuter characters. The character designs are amazing and the development of the personalities still blows me away. The main character, Sakura, starts out as this goofy, normal little girl, and by the end of the second movie, she has matured so much, she could be an adult. Her best friend, Tomoyo, has an adorable voice (Iwao Junko. Im not too sure about the Ohohohohohohoho laugh, though. That gets on my nerves.) as do all of the other characters. With a cast including Sakura Tange (Sakura), Motoko Kumai (Syaoran), Aya Hisakawa (Kero), Tomokazu Seki (Touya), and a ton of other fantastic voice talents, how could they not? The plot is simple: Sakura finds a magic book, releases the Clow Cards, she finds out she has magic, she has to find the Cards, with the help of Tomoyo and eventually Syaoran and his cousin, Meiling, and a stuffed beast named Kero. After theyre captured, she has to transform them into Sakura Cards, and along for that ride is the reincarnation of the creator of the Cards, Eriol Hiiragizawa. Okay, its a lot more complicated than it seems, because of all the situations, love triangles, (I think theres even a love hexagon in the plot, if Im counting right.) and setbacks. But regardless of the plot, it is still the cutest story ever. The animation was perfect and the characters were unbelievable. CardCaptor Sakura was originally a manga, or graphic novel. The 12 volumes have been released in the US by Tokyopop, and are as beautiful as the cover art (Even more so in the first book, due to the ugly cover.) Even though the story is slightly different, due to fewer Cards and the fact that Syaorans cousin is non-existent, its still lovable, and its worth a read. There is really nothing to rant about for CCS, other than the cliffhanger ending at the end of the second movie, and the fact that 70 episodes wasnt enough for such a great anime. If you want something that a little different from the ordinary Sailor Moon-ish magical girl anime, CardCaptor Sakura is worth the time. I will review the English counterpart of CardCaptor Sakura, known as CardCaptors in a different review, because its past 1 am and Im going to bed and Im too lazy to pick this one up where I left off. But CCS, manga and anime, are both worth a look. CardCaptor Sakura, in my opinion, earns a 99% A+. Anyone can enjoy this series, and I bet most people who see it, will, as long as the anime is subtitled, and not dubbed. (See Card Captors review.)
