| The Federation was started in 2161 roughly one year after the war with the Romulans. In the begining humans stumbled through the galaxy attempting to make peace with any with whom they met. |
| More then 200 years later the Federation now contains more than a hundred worlds and dozens of species. The most non-human prominant species are the Bajorans, Vulcans, and Trill among others. |
| The majority of the Federation is in the Alpha Quadrant although it contains a few systems in the Beta Quadrant. With numerous starship designs the Federation is one of the biggest powers known in the Trek universe. |
