Tabāraka Al-Ladhī Biyadihi Al-Mulku Wa Huwa `Alaá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun (67:1).

Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Sovereignty, and, He is Qadīr -- powerful over all things.

Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa Mina Al-Mā'i Basharāan Faja`alahu Nasabāan Wa Şihrāan Wa Kāna Rabbuka Qadīrāan (25:54).

And He it is Who hath created man from water, and hath appointed for him kindred by blood and kindred by marriage; for thy Lord is ever Powerful.

this divine revelation and prophecy was fulfilled during the holy prophet's [sas] lifetime and mission. hzt. ali was his first cousin and son in law [sa]. it's divine  fulfillment continues to this very day in the holy family of my beloved holy imam - priest-kohen namely -- his highness prince aga khan iv [sa].

Biyadika Al-Khayru 'Innaka `Alaá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun (3:26).

In Thy hand is the good. Lo! Thou art Able to do all things.

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,

Lillāhi Mulku As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Fīhinna Wa Huwa `Alaá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun (120).

Unto Allah belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein, and He is Able to do all things.

Mā Nansakh Min 'Āyatin 'Aw Nunsihā Na'ti Bikhayrin Minhā 'Aw Mithlihā 'Alam Ta`lam 'Anna Allāha `Alaá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun (2:106).

Nothing of our revelation do we abrogate or cause be forgotten, but we bring one better or the like thereof. Knowest thou not that Allah is Able to do all things ?

Dhālika Bi'anna Allāha Huwa Al-Ĥaqqu Wa 'Annahu Yuĥyī Al-Mawtaá Wa 'Annahu `Alaá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun (22:6). Mā Qadarū Allāha Ĥaqqa Qadrihi 'Inna Allāha Laqawīyun `Azīzun (22:74).

That is because Allah, He is the Truth and because He quickeneth the dead, and because He is Able to do all things; [they know] not the power of Allah - his true omnipotence. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty.

Wa Mā Qadarū Allāha Ĥaqqa Qadrihi 'Idh Qālū Mā 'Anzala Allāhu `Alaá Basharin Min Shay'in Qul Man 'Anzala Al-Kitāba Al-Ladhī Jā'a Bihi Mūsaá Nūrāan Wa Hudan Lilnnāsi Taj`alūnahu Qarāţīsa Tubdūnahā Wa Tukhfūna Kathīrāan Wa `Ullimtum Mā Lam Ta`lamū 'Antum Wa Lā 'Ābā'uukum Qul Allāhu Thumma Dharhum Fī Khawđihim Yal`abūna (91).

and [they know] not the power of Allah - his true might when they say: Allah hath naught revealed unto a human being. Say Who revealed the Book which Moses brought, a light and guidance for mankind, which ye have put on parchments which ye show, but ye hide much (thereof), and (by which) ye were taught that which ye knew not yourselves nor (did) your fathers (know it) ? Say: Allah. Then leave them to their play of cavilling.

124. And remember that Abraham was tried by his Lord with certain commands, which he fulfilled: He said: "I will make thee an Imam to the Nations." He pleaded: "And also (Imams) from my offspring!" He answered: "But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers."

[] C2266. 1 have discussed the various meanings of Imam in ii. 124, n. 124

Yusuf Ali's Commentary edited

PROOF

ii. 124    -    123. Kalimat: literally "words" here used in the mystic sense of God's Will or Decree or Purpose. This verse may be taken to be the sum of the verses following. In everything Abraham fulfilled God's wish: he purified God's house; he built the sacred refuge of the Kaba; he submitted his will to God's, and thus became the type of Islam. He was promised the leadership of the world; he pleaded for his progeny, and his prayer was granted, with the limitation that if his progeny was false to God, God's promise did not reach the people who proved themselves false. Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

They falsely laid claim to the virtues of Father Abraham: he was indeed a righteous Imām, but he was the progenitor of Ismā`īl's line (Arabs) as well as of Israel's line, and he with Ismā`īl built the Ka`ba (Temple of Mecca) and purified it, thus establishing a common religion, of which Islam is the universal exponent (ii. 122-141).

17. 71:
C2266. 1 have discussed the various meanings of Imam in ii. 124, n. 124. What is the meaning here? The Commentators are divided. Some understand the meaning to be that each People or Group will appear with its Leader, who will bear witness to its virtues or sins: Cf. xvi. 84. Another view is that the Imam is their revelation, their Book. A third is that the Imam is the record of deeds spoken of in the next clause. I prefer the first.
Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 17:71]

The book mentioned here is the record of deeds every individual will carry with him or her on the day of judgement. It will be visible to all. All human beings will appear with the guides (imams) they followed in their lives in the world. to give account of their deeds and faith. Blessed are they who follow the true guides (imams) of the Ahl ul Bayt, chosen by Allah and appointed by the Holy Prophet. The Holy Prophet said:

"Verily I am the Imam among you. After me, Ali will be your Imam. After him, his sons in his progeny will be your Imams. Whosoever remains attached with them shall be saved and shall obtain salvation. Those who disassociate themselves from them shall go astray and will certainly be lost."

Please refer to the commentary of al Baqarah: 2 and 124 to understand the following verse and know who are the true Imams chosen and appointed by Allah.

"We have gathered all things in a manifest Imam " (Ya Sin: 12)

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:

Commentators have variously interpreted the word imam as under:

(i) Scripture.

(ii) Prophet.

(iii) Leaders in every age.

The scripture and the prophet on whom it was revealed are not separable. To follow a scripture means to follow the prophet who brought it to the people. Moreover both of them together take their true followers to salvation. Nowhere in the Quran or in the traditions it is stated that they may also lead their followers to hell, but it is said that there are two types of Imams-"We appointed Imams, from among them, to guide (mankind) by our command (Sajdah: 24); and "We made them Imams who invite to the fire (Qasas: 41). The Imams mentioned in Sajdah: 24, like the prophets, are not separable from the scripture, as declared by the Holy Prophet in hadith al thaqalayn (see page 6). They are his Ahl ul Bayt.

The Holy Prophet said:

"Whosoever dies without recognising the Imam of his age dies the death of a pagan."

After making it clear that there will be an Imam from his progeny in every age, ....

This verse says that all human beings in groups shall be called with their respective Imams. The identity of the true Imams will be their inseparability with the scripture and the Holy Prophet- they will lead to eternal salvation.

Hazar Imam Interview with La Croix, France regarding Iraq - TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2003 LA CROIX

LC: What experience can you bring, in your capacity as Head of the Ismaili Community?

KAK: Ismaili Shiism has a living Imam, who lives in the world, [and] has a great number of contacts.

I observe the changes [in the world] and, in so far as possible, I anticipate the manner in which to build institutions which meet the needs of Ismailis. We do not have, in the Ismaili Community, a sole ethnic group, a sole [spoken] language, a sole religious history.

I pay attention to this pluralism of traditions. I situate my actions in the context of the [current] times.  My grandfather gave, and I have myself given, a certain interpretation to Shiism. The intellect is seen as a facet of faith, in the service of faith. Reason, reflection, form part of the process of decision making. This reflection is wished, is necessary in the interpretation of religion. This is one of the elements which has made it possible for the Ismaili Community to respond to the problems of [the modern world].

The Imam of the Shia Ismailis Prince Karim Aga Khan IV is the Spiritual Leader (Imam) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. At 20, in 1957, he succeeded his grandfather, the Aga Khan III. Born in Switzerland, living in France, 49th generation descendant of Prophet Muhammad, Karim Aga Khan completed his studies at Harvard University in America.

Allāhu Nūru - Allah is the Light

THE 5-FIVE DIVINE LIGHTS IN ISLAM

Wa Laqad 'Anzalnā 'Ilaykum 'Āyātin Mubayyinātin Wa Mathalāan Mina Al-Ladhīna Khalaw Min Qablikum Wa Maw`ižatan Lilmuttaqīna (24:34).

And verily We have sent down for you MANIFEST REVELATIONS, and the example of those who passed away before you. An admonition unto those who ward off (evil).

Allāhu Nūru[1] As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Mathalu Nūrihi[2] Kami ..... Nūrun[3] `Alaá Nūrin[4] Yahdī Allāhu Linūrihi[5] Man Yashā'u Wa Yađribu Allāhu Al-'Amthāla Lilnnāsi Wa Allāhu Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun (24:35).

Allah is the Light[1] of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light[2] IS AS .... Light[3] upon light[4]. Allah guideth unto His light[5] whom He will. And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things.

24. 35:
C2996. Embedded within certain ons conceming a refined domestic and social life, comes this glorious parable of light, which contains layer upon layer of transcendent truth about spiritual mysteries. C2997. The physical light is but a reflection of the true Light in the world of Reality, and that true Light is Allah. C2998. So with the spiritual Light; it is placed high, above worldly things; it has a niche or habitation of its own, in Revelation and other Signs of Allah; So the spiritual Truth has to be filtered through human language or human intelligence to make it intelligible to mankind. C2999. So men of God, who preach Allah's Truth, are themselves illuminated by Allah's light and become the illuminating media through which that Light spreads and permeates human life. C3001. This Olive is not localised. It is universal, for such is Allah's Light. C3003. Glorious, illimitable Light. The topmost pinnacle is the true prototypal Light, the real Light ... the Light of Allah.
Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

Proverbs 4:26 (KJV) Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Pr 4:26
They who earnestly and prayerfully ponder their path, shall be guided in the right way; but inconsiderateness always ends in shame and misery.

Ga 4:24
Here the apostle makes an allegorical and spiritual application of the foregoing history of Sarah and Hagar, of Isaac and Ishmael; and the mystery he tells us is this, "The two mothers, Sarah and Hagar, are types of the two covenants, the one of works, the other of grace; the two sons, Isaac and Ishmael,

(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect.

38. 29:
C4181. Revelation is not a mere chance or haphazard thing. It is a real blessing-among the greatest that Allah has bestowed on man. By meditation on it in an earnest spirit man may learn of himself, and his relation to nature around him and to Allah the Author of all. Men of understanding may, by its help, resolve all genuine doubts that there may be in their minds, and learn the true lessons of spiritual life.
Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are) allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. and those who are firm in knowledge. say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed.

Bal Kadhdhabū Bimā Lam Yuĥīţū Bi`ilmihi Wa Lammā Ya'tihim Ta'wīluhu Kadhālika Kadhdhaba Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Fānžur Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Až-Žālimīna (10:39).

Nay, but they denied that, the knowledge whereof they could not compass, and whereof the interpretation hath not yet come unto them. Even so did those before them deny. Then see what was the consequence for the wrong-doers!

3. 7:
C347. This passage gives us an important clue to the interpretation of the Holy Qur-an. Broadly speaking it may be divided into two portions, not given separately, but intermingled: viz. (1) the nucleus or foundation of the Book, literally "the mother of the Book". (2) the part which is not entirely clear. It is very fascinating to take up the latter, and exercise our ingenuity about its meaning, but it refers to such profound matters that are beyond human language and though people of wisdom may get some light from it, no one should be dogmatic, as the final meaning is known to Allah alone. The Commentators usually understand the verses "of established meaning" (muhkam) to refer to the categorical orders of the Shariat (or the Law), which are plain to everyone's understanding. But perhaps the meaning is wider: the "mother of the Book" must include the very foundation on which all Law rests, the essence of Allah's Message, as distinguished from the various illustrative parables, allegories, and ordinances.

C348. One reading, rejected by the majority of Commentators, but accepted by Mujahid and others, would not make a break at the point here marked Waq Lazim, but would run the two sentences together. In that case the construction would run: "No one knows its hidden meanings except Allah and those who are firm in knowledge. They say", etc.
Yusuf Ali's Commentary from QuranTrans

who are 'Ar-Rāsikhūna Fī Al-`Ilmi - those who are firm in knowledge'?

8:17. So you did not slay them, but it was Allah Who slew them, and you did not smite when you smote (the enemy), but it was Allah Who smote, and that He might confer upon the believers a good gift from Himself; surely Allah is Hearing, Knowing. 8:18. This, and that Allah is the weakener of the struggle of the unbelievers.

aga khan urges correct use of koran teachings

london , tuesday

the aga khan at the weekend spoke about freedom of interpretation as a "generosity which the holy koran confers upon all believers".

he also spoke of what was needed to assure "the growth of future generations of our intelligentsia, so that we strengthen our own capacity to determine our destiny".

in a keynote address at an international meeting entitled "word of god, art of man: the koran and its creative expressions," the aga khan, spiritual leader of the the shia ismaili muslims, said: "the revelation granted to the holy prophet muhammad opened new horizons and released new energies of mind and spirit."

it was, he said, a message "still potent in the muslim world today, although it is sometimes clouded over, distorted and deformed by political interests and by struggles for power over the minds and hearts of people."

there are attempts, he warned, "at transforming what are meant to be fluid, progressive, open-ended, intellectually informed and spiritually inspired traditions of thought, into hardened, monolithic, absolutist and obscurantist positions."

later , speaking to postgraduate students in islamic studies and humanities, the aga khan described the intellectual development of the ummah as an urgent challenge.

"in what voice or voices," he asked, "can the islamic heritage speak to us afresh – a voice true to the historical experience of the muslim world yet, at the same time, relevant to the technically advanced, but morally turbulent and uncertain world of today?"

The Aga Khan: "I am amazed by the ignorance of Islam"

PARIS - He is one of the spiritual leaders of Islam who best knows the land and the people of Central Asia, the area which holds the world in suspense. He is the Imam, the religious leader and guide of the Ishamilite, whose communities are spread in various countries of Asia and Africa, but also in Europe and in North America. Throughout Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and West China, there are more than five million Ishmaelite. ......

"I think that monotheistic religions, having an analogous belief in an only God, should and must dialogue. The three religions which Abraham inspired have many more common facets than those which divide them.

Religion must be a means by which to affirm the ethical significance of existence, irrelevant of one's faith. If we want social development, to meet halfway, to dialogue, peace, we cannot neglect ethics and the impact which education and culture have on social growth."

laylatil qadr stands for the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt

       [Pooya/Ali Commentary 97:1]

Qadr is power, honour, glory, grandeur.

Laylatil Qadr means the night of power or grandeur. As verses 2 and 3 suggest it is, in the spiritual sense, a secret kept hidden, and it transcends time because in it Allah's power dispels the darkness of ignorance through His revelation.

Jalal al Din al Suyuti, in Durr al Manthur,
says that laylatil qadr stands for
the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt.

Lail in Arabic means night and qadar means power or honour. Thus Laila-tul-Qadar means the Night of Power or the Night of Honour.

The ninety-seventh sura(chapter) of the Holy Quran has been named as Al-Qadar(power).

The night of Laila-Tul-Qadar falls in the month of Ramazan.

Abu Da’ood has reported that Abdullah bin Anees told the Holy Prophet that he was living on his farm in the jungle and was praying regularly there. He then requested the Holy Prophet to inform him exactly about the Laila-tul-Qadar so that he would go to the Masjid-el-Nabawi in Madina on that night to pass the night in prayer to get more sawaab. The Holy Prophet told him to come to this mosque on the twenty-third (23th)night.Abdullah explained later that since then his father always went to Madina on the 22th of the Ramazan and entered the Masjid-el-Nabawi before sunset and came out after the morning prayer the next day and return home.

According to ISMAILIS ,the date of Laila-tul-Qadar is 23th night of the month of Ramazan.

Mowlana Imam Jafar Sadiq said ; “ Laila-tul-Qadar falls on the 23th night of Ramazan.”

Mowla Ali said that the Holy Prophet would not allow anyone of his family to sleep during the 23th night of the month of Ramazan. If anyone fell asleep the Holy Prophet would sprinkle water on the face of the sleeping person.

Hazart Bibi Fatima would not let anyone in her household fall asleep on the 23th night of Ramazan.

Mowlana Imam Baqir said that “ The 23th night is the Laila-tul-Qadar. God gives His servent whatever he ask for in this night.” He also said that the Holy Prophet informed his Ahl-Bait that “ God forgives all his sins who remembers Him the whole night of Qadar.”

During the Imamat of Mowlana Imam Aga Hassan Ali Shah , Hazarat Pir Aga Ali Shah reorganized the jamats of India and taught them many things. He told the jamat. “ The 23th night of the month of Ramazan is Laila-tul-Qadar. So attend Jamatkhana for prayer and zikr from dusk to dawn during this night.Take Chanta and drink Aab-e-safa. Inshallah God will forgive his sins who will remember Him and pray for His mercy the whole night of the Laila-tul-Qadar.”

Holy Prophet said “ God fulfils his desires whatever he ask foe who pass the whole night of Laila-tul-Qadar in prayer.”

The 23th night of the month of Ramazan is the anniversary of the first revelation of the Holy quran and the declaration of Mohammad’s prophethood.i.e the beginning of the last and the final part of the Message of Allah ,occurred on the night of power(Laila-tul-Qadar).

So Laila-tul-Qadar is 23th Ramazan.

O ye who believe! Turn unto Allah in sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remit from you your evil deeds and bring you into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, on the day when Allah will not abase the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their light will run before them and on their right hands; they will say: Our Lord! Perfect our light for us, and forgive us! Lo! Thou art Able to do all things.

 Al-Ĥamdu Lillāhi Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna (1:2).

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,
