Week of: May 22, 2000Day 36: May 22, 2000Hello all, hope you enjoyed my progress pictures which have been posted at the end of Week 5. Today, I was back in the gym for an awesome Legs and Abs workout. I got there later than usual but still managed to push some extra weight on my Leg Presses by using a subtle mind trick. What I do is place a 10 lb plate on the inside of all the 45 lb plates. Doing this, of course, adds 20 lbs to the weight I am pushing, and being the plates are hidden by the large plates, I tend to forget they are there. Like I said, it is subtle, but it works because I am thinking of the big plates, forgetting about the little hidden ones. Try it out sometime if you find yourself getting stuck at a certain weight. Day 37: May 23, 2000Up again, nice and early to get my early morning cardio workout done. Pushed myself for an intense 30 minutes on the stationary bike. I am really enjoying my morning workouts and wish I had the time to get my weight workouts done in the morning also. Have to try it tomorrow with my Upper Body workout because I have things to do tomorrow night. Lets see what happens..... Day 38: May 24, 2000I wanted to, I really did want to get up and get to the gym this morning for my Upper Body workout, but, I just could not get myself up and out of bed.... So, had to settle for a real late workout after going with the family to buy a new bike for our daughter...... Saw a nice mountain bike that I would like for myself..... then can do my cardio by riding to work each day. It's a good 12 to 15 mile trip with some nice inclines along the way. We shall see. Anyway, got to the gym tonight at 9:00, which is the time I am usually leaving. Pumped out a great Upper Body work out, which included 65 lbs dumbbells for my setup set on Incline Presses, a new personal best. I used to shy away from doing dumbbell work, except for curls, but now it is almost all I use. I also felt a great pump while doing my standing cable curls by really squeezing at the top of the movement. My Lat Pull Downs were not to shabby either. Felt real strong pulling 100 lbs. Gonna up the weight on Monday's Upper Body. As I was leaving, I was thinking, I am gonna be back here in about six hours for my cardio work..... Total dedication! Day 39: May 25, 2000Almost didn't get up this morning for my cardio, then was rushing a bit, left the house, got halfway to the gym and realized I forgot my towel for my shower. Had to then run back home, get the towel and get on my way again. Therefore, only did a 20 minute cardio workout instead of my now usual 30. It was still intense with total focus. Got a nice workout at work today also, because I am moving to a new office. So, with moving the files, the computer and other miscellaneous stuff, plus doing some rearranging in the old office gave me a good workout. Tomorrow...... it's back to Legs and Abs and I am ready for it!!! Day 40: May 26, 2000Overall, I would have to say this was my worst day during this challenge. I was off from work today because of a "Walk, Bike, Skate-a-thon" going on at the kid's school which I was helping out with. During the day, I really didn't eat that well, missing two meals during the day. Later, I went to the gym for Legs & Abs day and had a crummy workout over all, even though I set some new highs on my "Leg Extensions," pushing 110 lbs. and really squeezing at the top. I was very tired from the day's activities and was really not into the workout that much. There was absolutely no intensity in the workout. I will be back tomorrow though, with a vengeance with my cardio...... Day 41: May 27, 2000As I said, I would be back and I was.......... Got up and got to the gym at opening time and had an excellent 30 minutes on the stationary bike. Worked up a nice sweat and it really helped wake me up..... I ate much better today getting in 5 meals. Tomorrow is my free day but I think I will try and eat following the program, being I didn't eat so well on Friday..... We'll see how I fell in the morning. Till then........... Day 42: May 28, 2000Two more weeks and it will be time to do the body shave. With all my hair, it is beginning to become hard seeing the muscle separation which is beginning to show. I am looking forward to it.Gonna have a great week 7 as I begin my second half of the challenge..... |
