When people constantly tell you that Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world, you tend to shrug it off and figure, "i'll manage." If that were the case then I would have not spent so much money within the first week and a half of being here. So I decided to get a part time job most likely speaking english, since i am sooo damn good at it :) First thing in the morning I was ready to go. i headed to Yotsuya fairly quickly and kinda had some trouble finding the right building. After finding the building probably due to pure luck, i went to the wrong room. Once I was in the correct room, the guy helped me fill out the paper for a teachine certificate and it cost me a 100yen. I only had a 10,000 yen bill so I was worried, but their was a change machine behind me. This is what I love about Japan. So I put in my 10,000 yen afraid that I was going to get nothing but change back, NO, this machine gave me bills, that is right brand new shanking bills. After I did that I felt a sense of relief because I got one part of the procedure out of the way. All of the girls keep telling me that I will have no problem getting a job since I look the part. Many girls even though they were billingual if they looked Asian whatsoever they were turned down. Even though I have been complaining about feeling like an American, I realized that it had one good perk, it can make me money. People pay top dollar for their children's education over here and since japanese people are required to take 6 years of english, people pay good money for tutors. I rushed back to the dorm because I had not talked to my boyfriend in days and last night i was kinda getting depressed since i missed him so much. After talking to him I felt a sigh of relief. Any sort of contact with him makes me feel better. So i spent most of the day taking care of a few things so that I do not fall behind on anything. Once i was off the computer, I began talking with a few of the girls from the dorm, and they decided to go rent a movie. the went back to the place where I had been to before with Minori and them. they were giving away old posters that they had which are now outdated, so i grabbed the Patlabor WXIII poster, yeah! Even though I was still attempting to make sure that it was in fact, free. But nothing went off and no one screamed at me when I left the store, so I figured that all was well. I went into the benri and grabbed a anman, which I found out is a chinese thing. It is some sort of bread and their is sweat beans in the middle. I really like because it is tasty and it is rather inexpensive, I think that it is my new hoagie :) We went back to the dorm and watched this Japanese movie that was a love story that took place in Italy and the guy was a painter. Like most love stories it was about how they were separated due to their inability to communicate with one another, but otherwise, i really did love the film. I do hate chix films, but i loved this films because despite all of the situations being completely soap operish, it never had the feel or the corney dialogue of one. The movie made me miss Jim terribly. Minori noticed my mood change at dinner and was telling me to call him since it was 7:00am where I lived. I just laughed and remarked, you do not know my boyfriend. Then she was looking at the situation completely logically. You will see him in a few weeks, right? Isn't that something to look forward to. I need logically that she was completely right, and I knew what I was feeling wasn't home sickness because everyone is so nice and i have never felt unwelcomed. Jim and i are just "so close."
i went to bed.
