Sophia University was established in 1913. It is one of the foremost of Japan's private universities. It has a student body of about 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The teacher staff is close to one thousand members. Sophia University prides itself in being an international university with a japanese speaking campus (yotsuya) & english speaking campus (ichiga-ya). Sophia University's Yotsuya Campus is located in the heart of Tokyo.

Faculty of Comparative Cutlure
If you are attending Sophia and taking classes at ichigaya campus, you will be taking classes in this program. All of the course with the expection of language classes are taught in English. The FCC consists of two departments: the DCC & the DJLS. The DCC stands for Department of Comparative Culture, which consists of humanities, international business and economics, and social studies. The DJLS or Department of Japanese Language and Studies focuses on the study of Japanese language culture, and society.
