This is the oldest department of the hospital, as the hospital was setup especially for the care of women and children. The Department has the services of experienced duty doctors with consultant gynaecologists resident in the hospital.

Labour Room :
This newly rebuilt labour and delivery room has an operation theatre for caesarian sections. It is fully equipped with ultrasound scan, cardiotocograph and intrapartum foetal monitors to check on the babies during labour. There is a seperate room for high risk and complicated delivery patients. This is for all high-risk pregnancies. The neonatal intensive care unit is situated just adjacent to the labour room.

Painfree Labour using epidural analgesia is offered.

Other services offered:

  • Laparoscopic surgery : minimal access or 'keyhole' surgery is offered for gynaecological conditions. Surgeries done include hysterectomies or removal of the uterus and ovarian growths.
  • Infertility clinic : This is run every tuesday for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility cases. This clinic offers follicular studies and has a donor sperm bank attached.
  • High risk pregnancy clinic : for patients with complication arising during pregnancies
  • Antenatal clinic : For checking and maintaining health during normal pregnancy.
  • Postnatal Clilic : For follow-up after delivery.
  • Specialized ultrasound : Examination including vaginal ultrasounds for the diagnosis of gynecological conditions.
  • Colposcopy : For detecting early signs of diseases of the uterus and cervix.
