Aims & Objectives of the Department :



  • To improve the socio economic and health conditions of the community and making them self-sufficient in all respects.
  • To creat awareness among dalit women on issues like environment health, education, agriculture, etc.
  • To build up local leadership and organizations like mahila mandala, youth clubs.
  • To identify and train village multipurpose workers to carry out work in the respective villages.
  • To encourage cultural activities as a means of community involvement
  • To make dalit women aware of the existing government programmes and ensure the proper utilisation of these programmes.

Health & Development Programme:



  • Immunisation, antenatal check-ups, mobile clinic, health education, training for community health volunteers, regular clinic at mullur sub-centre.
  • Pre-school for 3-5 year children non-formal education centres for child labour organisations and awareness programmes for parents.
  • Formation of self-help groups (micro credit management) linkage to banks. UNICEF and zilla panchayat sponsored CDD-Watson (control of diarrhoeal diseases, water and sanitation) programme and school health programme. Constructed drainage with community participation in Mullur village.
  • 53 smokeless chulas constructed in Mullur village.
  • Zilla panchayat provided a solar street light to the village, which was installed near our sub-centre.
  • The organisation has membership of voluntary health association of Karnataka (VHAK)
  • Federation of voluntary organisations for rural development - Karnataka (FEVORD-K)
  • Campaign against child labour - Karnataka (CACL-K)
  • Mysore town and rural integration (MYTRI)

Mangala Rural Hospital

Situated 55 kms from Mysore is our 20 bedded Rural Hospital. This is the base for our rural outreach program to the surrounding 28 villages. Mangala is situated in Chamarajnagar district which is an economically backward area. The program is active in promoting primary health care and in socio-economic upliftment.

The hospital is equipped with 20 inpatient beds, a labour room and operation theatre and has xray, laboratory and pharmacy facilities. There is a resident Medical Officer and paramedical workers. Specialist camps are held on every last Saturday of the month. A operation camp takes place on the second Friday of every month. Under developement is the ophthalmological unit and outreach services.
