Dallas County Democrats
Platforms
This site is an ARCHIVE of the website used
for the Dallas County Democratic Party from 2000 to May of 2002, and which was built by the then Chair Bill Howell. Though some information
here will be relevant through the 2002 elections, other pages here are of interest for
history or research. For the
latest updated news about the Dallas County Democratic Party, see their own website at
www.dallasdemocrats.org.
Read a comparison of excerpts from the 2000 Texas state Democratic and Republican Platforms.
The full text of the 2000 Texas Platforms of both the Democratic and Republican Parties has been posted on the Texas Democratic Party's website so that people can compare for themselves. Long after their state convention the Republicans still had not put their platform on their own website. Could it be they are ashamed of what a far-right-wing extremist document it is? Read the 2000 national Democratic Platform, which was adopted at our national Convention in Los Angeles.
These are several pages of excerpts from Platforms and Resolutions passed by various state Republican parties in 2000. They show how far out of the mainstream are the extremists that have taken over the Republican party. This compilation was sent to us by Jack Cross of Austin. They are in the same order he sent them in. Pick an issue and see how far out the Republicans can get:
Education,
Social Security,
Public Safety,
Fiscal Responsibility,
Health Care,
Federal Programs,
Working Families,
Freedom Of Choice,
Environment,
Civil Rights,
Foreign Policy & Defense,
Voting Rights,
Census,
Church and State,
Reckless Corporations,
and Miscellaneous Extremism..
Read a comparison of excerpts from the 1998 Texas state Democratic and Republican Platforms. Sadly, the Republicans have not made any major changes for the better.
If you want to see the full text of the 1996 or 1998 Texas Democratic Platform look at Tom Blackwell's website.
