Dallas County Democrats
State Republican Platforms: Working Families

These are excerpts from Platforms and Resolutions passed by various state Republican parties this year. They show how far out of the mainstream are the extremists that have taken over the Republican party.

Republicans: Hurting Working Families:
  • Texas: We also support the repeal of the Davis Bacon Act.
  • Iowa: We support eliminating Federal minimum wage laws. We support the elimination of OSHA.
  • South Carolina: We oppose any legislation which offers financial incentives for mothers to leave home for the work force or that creates a scenario in which the State becomes the parent.
  • West Virginia: We oppose collective bargaining for state workers. Republicans: Hurting Working Families:
  • Arkansas: The Republican Party of Arkansas strongly opposes the "Anti-Striker Replacement Act" (H.R.5/S.55).
  • Missouri: We oppose the unionizing of Missouri state government and its employees and accordingly oppose collective bargaining for public employees, especially school teachers.
  • New Hampshire: Pass a Right to Work law.
  • Oregon: Therefore, we urge a return to State standards of employment by repeal of federal minimum age laws pertaining to those under eighteen. We deplore the brutal impact of increasing minimum wage upon the elderly and minorities and urge retention of current standards. We favor encouraging competition among small businesses by allowing them to formulate their own benefit and wage packages. We oppose government mandated benefit packages.
  • South Carolina: ...the South Carolina Republican Party stands for: ... Freedom in the job market through the Right to Work. Because the free enterprise system is the best way to provide jobs for hardworking South Carolinians, the Party supports the strengthening of this system, opposes mandatory union membership and dues and supports the Right to Work law.
  • Texas: The Party calls on our Texas legislators to resist any efforts to make Worker's Compensation mandatory for all Texas employers. *Texas: We oppose any national legislation that would restrict or limit the Right-to-Work. The Party believes the minimum wage law should be repealed.
  • Utah: We support the Utah Right to Work Law.
  • Washington: We support: ... A "right to work" law that would prohibit compulsory union membership. We believe: ... [in] Paycheck Protection.
  • Wisconsin: Be it further resolved that we work to make Wisconsin a right-to-work state.
  • Wyoming: Supports the Right to Work law.
