Dallas County Democrats
State Republican Platforms: Church and State

These are excerpts from Platforms and Resolutions passed by various state Republican parties this year. They show how far out of the mainstream are the extremists that have taken over the Republican party.

Republicans: Breaking Down the Separation Between Church and State:
  • Georgia: Be it resolved that the Georgia Republican Party fully support the display and use of the 10 Commandments in public places and on public documents.
  • Iowa: We favor posting the Ten Commandments in government schools. We support the students'; teachers' and administrators right to pray in school. We support that the Ten Commandments to be [sic] posted in public buildings.
  • Arkansas: We, therefore, support the right of the individual to pray in public schools. We deplore any effort by the state to restrict religious activities or expression thereof on any public campus.
  • Nevada: We support the people's constitutional right to pray and to recognize their religious beliefs, heritage or traditions on public property, including schools.
  • Oregon: Therefore the Republican Party believes the Ten Commandments should be on display along with other great documents of our society where ever appropriate in schools, courtrooms, and public places.
