Dallas County Democratic Party
State Republican Platforms: Federal Programs

These are excerpts from Platforms and Resolutions passed by various state Republican parties this year. They show how far out of the mainstream are the extremists that have taken over the Republican party.

Republicans: Eliminating Key Federal Departments, Programs and Funding:
  • Indiana: ...we advocate: ... Elimination of many federal programs and return of those responsibilities to state and local government, as called for by the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
  • Iowa: We call for an end to all federal government departments, programs, spending, subsidies, regulations and mandates that are not expressly authorized by the United States Constitution. We oppose the governmental funding of Planned Parenthood, senior citizen groups, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for Humanities, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Legal Services Corporation, and other lobbying groups.
  • Texas: We further support the abolition of federal agencies involved in activities not delegated to the federal government under the original intent of the Constitution including, but not limited to, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms the position of Surgeon General, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Departments of Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Education, Commerce, and Labor. These authorities should be eliminated or, where needed, transferred to the state or local governments.
