Dallas County Democrats
State Republican Platforms: Miscellaneous Extremism

These are excerpts from Platforms and Resolutions passed by various state Republican parties this year. They show how far out of the mainstream are the extremists that have taken over the Republican party.

Republicans: Miscellaneous Extremism:
  • Texas: The Party demands the elimination of presidential authority to issue executive orders, presidential decision directives and other administrative mandates that do not have congressional approval. Further, we demand a repeal of all previous executive orders and administrative mandates.
  • Nevada: We oppose efforts at any level to add fluoride or any other medication to our public water supply, unless approved by local voters.
  • Idaho: The Republican Party believes that the State of Idaho should assert its sovereignty under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
  • Idaho: We encourage the Governor and State Legislature to: ... pass legislation which will privatize those agencies which would be better managed as private corporations.
  • Iowa: We strongly recommend legislation removing the tax-exempt status of the National Education Association and Planned Parenthood. We believe the antitrust case against Microsoft must be ended. We believe that human services are best provided by charitable organizations and individual efforts.
  • Oregon: ...we oppose the erosion of parental rights by all government agencies (e.g., Oregon Children and Families Division, formerly Children's Services Division; the U.N. Commission on the Family; Oregon Educational Act for the 21st Century; Goals 2000; etc.).
  • Utah: Regulatory power now exercised by the federal government must be eliminated or returned to state and local governments.
  • Washington: We believe: ... In repealing or rescinding all of President Clinton's Executive Orders. Therefore be it resolved that the executive and legislative branches of the federal government immediately take whatever steps necessary to terminate all such non-republican forms of government on Indian reservations, and compensate those citizens who have wrongly suffered loss due to denial of their constitutionally guaranteed rights to be governed by a republican form of government.
  • Wisconsin: Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Republican Party of Wisconsin... [u]rges state and federal legislators to ensure that the freedom of speech of the individual citizens and associations of citizens is protected, including political speech, with no limits on voluntary donations or expenditures...
