Dallas County Democrats
State Republican Platforms: Voting Rights
These are excerpts from Platforms and Resolutions passed by various state Republican parties this year. They show how far out of the mainstream are the extremists that have taken over the Republican party.
Republicans: Undermining Voting Rights:
-
Texas: Furthermore, we support the repeal of all Motor Voter laws
and urge
re-registering voters every four years and requiring first time
registrants
to produce photo identification, proof of residency, and citizenship
along
with voter registration application.
- North Carolina: We, therefore, seek the immediate repeal of the
"Motor
Voter" laws and urge re-registering voters every four years, and
requiring
registrants to produce photo identification, proof of residency, and
citizenship.
- Washington: We support: ... Requiring valid identification and proof
of
citizenship in order to register to vote.
Republicans: Undermining Voting Rights:
- Iowa: We oppose Internet voting, motor-voter, same day voter
registration,
and mail-in voting, other than absentee ballots.
- Mississippi: ...we oppose implementation of the Motor Voter
Registration
System, as it will increase voter fraud.
- Wisconsin: Be it further resolved that the Republican Party calls for
election law reform wherein each voter will be required to show one
valid
form of identification provided such identification shows the
resident's
current address, or at least two such forms one of which is a
government-issued ID and at least one of them indicating current
residence,
before receiving a ballot at the polling place.
- Wyoming: Believes new voters should provide identity in order to
register.
