Dark Seduction
Once an Avenger...
Powers: The Scarlet Witch has the ability to create hex spheres, a source of
mystical power that draws itself from her mutant powers to alter probability. In truth,
the hexes can make the impossible happen. Lately, Wanda has also been studying the mystic
arts, learning more about her powers. Also, the Scarlet Witch is this dimension's Nexus
being, meaning any children she bears will be incrediably powerful.
Origin: Magda, Magneto's former wife, ran from him the night their first cihld
was murdered. In revenge, Magneto revealed his powers to his wife for the first time,
killing the mob that had killed their daughter. Magda ran all the way to Wundagore
Mountain, a mystical mountain inhabited by the High Evolutionary and his human/animal
servants. Soon, Magda gave birth to twins, Wanda and Pietro, but died in the process.
History: Bova, a servant of the High Evolutionary and the twin's caretaker,
tried to give the twins to Miss America and the orginal Whizzer, who for some time, were
believed to be Wanda and Pietro's true parents. However, they could not take the children,
and instead, Bova gave the children to gypsies by the name of Maximoff, and Wanda and
Pietro were raised in Eastern Europe as traveling gypsies.
Their parents were good to them, but they had no idea about the mutant powers the twins
would soon develop. When Wanda accidently used her powers to start a fire, Pietro was
forced to use his super-speed to save her life. The act was little, but it caught the
attention of Magneto, who had no idea these two were actually his children.
The twins wanting more out of life than being gyspies, escaped with Magneto to Asteriod M,
his home in the stars. They joined the very first incarnation of the Brotherhood of Evil
Mutants, and fought the X-Man alongside Magneto.
However, this was a brief period, as the twins realized they were not evil. Turning their
backs on Magneto, the twins become part of the first changing of the Avenger's roster,
joining a team of Captain America, the legendary soldier, and Hawkeye, another
reformed criminal. Thus began their long ties to the Avengers.
The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver earned the public and their teammate's trust, and became
heroes in the eyes of the world. They remained with the Avengers for long stays, and
eventually, the Avengers would face the Vision, one of Ultron's creations to kill the
Avengers. But the Vision turned on Ultron, and joined the Avengers.
Soon, there was love between the android and the mutant, and that love would eventually
lead to marriage. Married by the time-traveling Immortus, the two left the Avengers
together for a peaceful honeymoon.
Instead, the Vision and the Scarlet Witch, along with Quicksilver and his wife, Crystal,
and his daughter, Luna, would soon discover the truth behind their birth, when Magneto
himself revealed himself to be Luna's grandfather, showing that the master of magnestism
was in fact their father.
Disgusted, both twins turned their backs on their newly found father, and returned to the
super-heroics. Before that would happen, the Scarlet Witch would discover more about her
powers. She learned that Cthon, a dark and evil god, had infused great mystical power in
her, that eventually led to the catalyzing power of her hex spheres. And later, she
learned that she was the Nexus being, that her children would supremely powerful.
And in the end, she and the Vision tried to have children. Using the power of witchcraft,
Wanda combined her essence with the Vision's to create William and Thomas Maximoff, two
boy babies that Wanda claimed were hers.
She and the Vision joined the West Coast Avengers and for a time, they were happy. But
soon, William and Thomas began acting strangely and would disappear when Wanda was not
around. Plus, Master Pandemonium, eventually revealed to be a servant of Mephisto, was
always trying to get them. In the end, Wanda was forced to give up her children, as it was
revealed they were really pieces of Mephisto's soul!
Also, to make matters worse, Wanda was stuck between her husband and Wonder Man. To make
matters worse, the Vision's brain pattern was based on Wonder Man's, so that he too loved
Wanda. Also, some time back, the Vision had been attached to ISAAC, the super-computer
from Titan and tried to take over the world. In return, the government managed to seize
him and capture Wanda.
The government released Wanda, but the Vision was missing. When he was found, it was worse
then she had feared. They had completely dismantled the Vision, essentianly
"killing" her husband. The pain that had taken over her life was too much, and
for a brief time, Wanda returned to Magneto's side and turned againt the Avengers.
However, with the Avenger's help, she quickly returned.
Hank Pym and Tony Stark managed to put the Vision back together, but his emotions had been
deleted. And Wonder Man, even after Wanda's pleading, would not give up his brain patterns
again so that the Vision could be restored. Soon, the West Coast Avengers would disband,
and Force Works would take their place, with the Scarlet Witch as their field leader.
However, Force Works was a tumultous time. Iron Man's power control was destroying the
team from within, and Wonder Man was killed in their first assignment. Force Works would
eventually disband, and Wanda returned to the Avengers, and her husband.
The Vision had regained his emotions, and although the two remained close, they was a gap
between them. However, before they could settle the manage of their marriage, Onslaught
struck. With some horrible strike, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four sacrificed their
lives to stop the monster from destroying the world. The Scarlet Witch, the Vision, and
Crystal were among those that died, leaving Quicksilver to care for Luna.
However, the heroes would return from the "dead". In truth, they were trapped in
a pocket dimension. The Avengers soon faced the might of Morgana LeFay, an ancient
sorceress. Taking all of the Avengers she could find, and kidnapping the Scarlet Witch,
Morgana changed reality with the Avengers as her servants.
This would not last, and the Avengers fought back. During the fighting, Wanda had called
out for help, which had called Wonder Man back from the dead. With his help and the magic
power she gained from Morgana, the two defeated her and returned reality to normal, but at
the cost of the Vision, who was gravely crippled during the battle.
The Avengers team was reformed, with the Scarlet Witch as a member. She watched night and
day over the Vision, while Wonder Man continually reappeared to aide her at times of
trouble. Eventually, with the help of her old mentor Agatha Harkness, she found a way to
bring Wonder Man back from the dead.
While the Vision was still comatose, the Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man became closer than
ever. When the Vision awakened, he knew that his marriage to Wanda was over. He told her
that their marriage had been over for some time, since he had "died" when he was
dismantled. Thus, the Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man became a couple.
After another switch of Avenger's roster, the Scarlet Witch was named deputy leader. She
took pride in the title, and she continues to fight alongside the Avengers with her
brother, her ex-husband, and her new love at her side. |
