Powers: Like her father, Siryn has the ability to create sonic force using her
vocal cords. She can generate concussive force, can fly, and can use the vibrations to
affect the workings of the inner ear.
Origin: Saved from the blast that killed her mother, Theresa was cared and
raised by her villainous uncle, Black Tom Cassidy. Taught the ways of crime, Siryn was a
thief long before her powers manifested themselves. Black Tom, and his partner, the
Juggernaut, taught her everything they knew and told her Tom was truly her father. After
her powers manifested, Siryn learned the truth: the X-Men's Banshee was her true father.
She left Black Tom and crime behind, going to live on Muir Isle with her father.
History: Siryn lived for several years on Muir and became closer to her real
father in the process. During that time, Siryn joined her first super-team, the Fallen
Angels, a collection of outball mutants, that would include future X-Force teammates
Sunspot and Boomer. She also began a romance with one of her fellow Muir Isle compatriots,
Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man.
The romance and the Fallen Angels were short-lived. Siryn and Madrox returned to Muir, but
things had begun to change. The evil Shadow King, a powerful telepath and enemy of
Professor X, had slowly began to take over the island. Soon, all the people that resided
on the island were under his influence, including Siryn.
When the X-Men finally discovered the Shadow King's plan, they gathered at Muir to end the
evil man's plot. They fought against Siryn and the others, and X-Factor was forced into
the battle. Finally, the combined forces freed Siryn and the others from the Shadow King's
thrall, but at the expense of Profesor X's legs.
During the next period of her life, Siryn hunted down Black Tom, wanting revenge for how
he raised her and how he manipulated her for so long. She found help in the form of the
new X-Force and with their aid, she stopped her uncle and his partner. During the battle,
however, Cable, X-Force's leader, offered Siryn a spot on their team. While Siryn did not
approve of X-Force's militant ways, Siryn find comfort in being around old friends again.
Siryn had an encounter with the mercenary Deadpool that resulted in a short, but very
passionate, lover affair. She aided him through a difficult time and assignment, and the
two became very close. While she and Deadpool remain good friends, Deadpool's murderous
ways and insane personality proved too much for Siryn.
She soon developed a friendship with Warpath, the former Hellion turned hero. And through
this friendship, he learned of Siryn's darkest secret: her alcoholism that had been
controlling her life since she was a teenager. Black Tom had gotten her started, allowing
her to drink when very young and any encouraging her. With Warpath's help, Siryn pushed
past her darkest hour and remained with X-Force.
But love had struck Warpath, while Siryn did not want to lose her best friend. The two
flirted outragously, but they remained close friends. Eventually, a change would come in
X-Force, when they moved to the Xavier Mansion. Cannonball became an X-Man, and Siryn was
sent away on a special mission.
Sent to the Weisman Institute, Siryn was subjected to harsh treatment. Unable to find the
truth behind this asylum, Siryn sent word to the man she knew could save her: Deadpool.
The merc with the mouth soon appeared, freeing Siryn, but becoming captured in the
process. Siryn would return months later to free Deadpool and learn the truth that the
Gamemaster was behind it all. Siryn had defeated one of the X-Men's most ambigous foes.
When she finally returned to X-Force, Siryn learned that Cable had chosen her to be the
new deputy leader. Trilled by the challenge, Siryn soon became a great leader. She,
however, soon got more than she bargained for. When X-Force split from Cable and Domino,
Siryn became the full time leader of X-Force and remained so until she left the team. Even
Cannonball, upon returning to X-Force, relied on Siryn's leadership.
But Siryn's life was suddenly ripped from her. During a battle with the new Hellions,
Siryn came face-to-face with her old teammate, the murderess Feral. The deranged cat-woman
attacked Siryn, slicing open her throat. Her life was saved, but Siryn learned that she
may never be able to talk again.
She left X-Force behind, to try to live a quiet life with a distant aunt on a farm in the
American southwest. She remained happy and healthy, until a chance encounter with a old
woman witch. Using a powerful gem, the woman possessed Siryn's body, but in the process
healed her throat and powers. But the woman none-the-less gained control over Siryn's
mind. Siryn has not been seen since. |
