Origin: An Interpol agent, Sean Cassidy traveled the world to hunt down criminals. He was a happy man, living in his family's ancient caslte, Cassidy Keep, and loving his wife, Maeve. But while away on a mission, Maeve was killed by a terrorist bomb and Sean's life was destroyed. He moved to America from Ireland, and become a New York City cop. But soon, Sean was captured by Factor Three, an evil organization and enemy of the X-Men. They brainwashed Sean, and no longer was he a simple cop, but the mutant Banshee!

History: Factor Three sent Banshee against the original X-Men, but Professor X was able to see through Banshee's brainwashing. Using his telepathic powers, Prof X freed Banshee's mind, allowing him to turn on his capturers. Months later, the X-Men would be captured and Professor X created a new generation of X-Men. Professor X offered Banshee a chance to become a true hero, using his mutant sonics for good. Banshee quickly excepted.
The new generation freed the original X-Men, and Banshee remained with the team for some time, clashing with the likes of Magneto. But on a mission to defeat Moses Magnum, Banshee would lose his powers. Pushing his powers further than ever before, Banshee stopped the evil genius, but in turn lost his powers for some time.
Banshee, although powerless, remained with the team until the battle with Proteus. There, he and Moria Mactaggert finally decided to give their relationship a real try. This relationship has carried both of them through some of the darkest periods in their lives. Banshee was an inactive member of the X-Men, but remained a close ally.
Soon, Banshee would learn the truth about the daughter he never knew. Black Tom Cassidy, Banshee's cousin, had taken Siryn from her mother just before she had been killed. He raised her as his child, but Siryn learned the truth. With Banshee's help, she quit the ways of crime and began to work on Muir Isle with her father.
Banshee's power returned, but he found there were no X-Men to return to. The X-Men had sacrificed themselves to stop the evil adversary. It would not be until months later, while he and Forge had rescued Jean Grey while a search for Callisto, that Banshee would learn the X-Men were alive, resurrected by the goddess Roma. And when Banshee did return to the mansion, it was an advisor, not an active X-Men. He, Forge, and Moria staffed the mansion, making sure the X-Men were well-taken care of.
When the Phalanx attacked, Banshee found himself trapped within a mansion of aliens. With only Jubilee, the White Queen, and Sabretooth for allies, Banshee was forced to search for and rescue the next generation of mutants without the X-Men's aide. He managed to save them, but only with the sacrifice of Clarice Ferguson, the shy young girl named Blink.
Professor X took these young mutants and Jubilee, the youngest X-Men, and crafted them into Generation X. He offered Banshee the chance to be their headmaster, with the White Queen, the reformed Emma Frost, as his partner. He accepted, and became Generation X's teacher.
Banshee fell in love with his students and sacrificed everything he had in him for them, including Moria. During this time, Moria was still in Europe, aiding Excalibur, and Banshee was in Massachusetts with Gen X. But their love still prevailed. Banshee trained the kids into a well-groomed fighting force and young men and woman worthy of being X-Men. But the greatest trajedy would come in the form of Emma's sister, Adrienne Frost. Adrienne would murder Synch and push Emma towards the edge of insanity. And then, the news came that Mystique had destroyed Muir Isle, killing Moria in the process.
The news of Moria's death crippled Banshee. He shunk deep into alcohol and it seemed he would never recover. Gen X, without the direction of the drunk Banshee or the insane Emma, disbanded, each member going their own ways. Banshee disappeared for a time.
And then, out of nowhere, Banshee re-emerged, leading an organization named X-Corps. With militant precision, Banshee was going across Europe, ending the struggles of mutants. He had managed to coerce many villains into his group, using the powers of Lady Mastermind. And he had several X-Men allies by his side, including three of his former students, Jubilee, Husk, and M. While Banshee's actions are questionable, the X-Men have not yet stopped him and so far, his ways seem to be working.
