Powers: Wolfsbane has the ability to transform herself from human to wolf. She
can either transform completely into wolf form, and stop somewhere between, gaining long
hair, enhanced senses, strength, speed, and agility. In wolf form, she has a psychic
connection to Moonstar. Also, in full human form, Rahne has short, red hair which never
grows.
Origin: Possibly the daughter of the town priest, Rahne was chased down and
nearly murdered on the day her powers manifested themselves. Calling her a demon spawn,
the people grabbed their pitchforks and torches, and they would have killed her if not for
the intervention of Moria Mactaggert. Moria saved the girl and took Rahne back to Muir
Isle. She raised Rahne until the day came Professor X called for her.
History: In desperate need of mutant power, Professor X gathered a second
generation of mutants to replace the X-Men, who were presumably lost in space, or worse,
dead. Rahne, though the youngest of the group, joined as the lupine Wolfsbane and started
her super-hero as a member of the New Mutants.
Rahne, though terribly shy, soon was a part of the team, gaining the friendship of Dani
Moonstar, her teammate Mirage. The two developed that bond partly due to Mirage's ability
to speak telepathically to Wolfsbane when she was in wolf form. Wolfsbane also developed a
long-lasting crush on Cannonball, and nothing ever came to fruitation.
Wolfsbane slowly grew out of her shell and grew up alongside her teammates. She was happy
for the most part, but those happy times could not last forever. The New Mutants were on a
mission on the Ani-Mator's island, when one of the villains tried to shoot Wolfsbane.
Instead, Cypher through himself in front of the bullet, so that Cypher sacrificed himself
to save Wolfsbane's life. Wolfsbane never forgot Cypher's sacrifice, but after suffering
through painful mourning for him, Wolfsbane moved on.
Soon, Wolfsbane's life was soon changed again, this time when Mirage left the group after
being molested by the Asgardian goddess Hela. She remained in Asgard, while the New
Mutants returned to Earth.
Then, the New Mutants later traveled to Genosha, to fight off the evil of Cameron Hodge.
But Wolfsbane fell prey to the evil man and was transformed into a slave mutate alongside
Storm. Her teammate Warlock was killed, and the New Mutants were able to free Wolfsbane
before she suffered the same fate. However, the process had psychically binded her to
Havok, a former X-Man, and she could not bear to leave his side. Wolfsbane remained in
Genosha.
When Dr. Valerie Cooper was forming the new X-Factor, she asked Havok to take over the
leadership spot. Havok conceded, and Wolfsbane followed him, joining X-Factor. For a time,
she was happy there, although she was once again the youngest member. But she also missed
Moria, especially after it was found out that Moria was a victim of the deadly Legacy
Virus.
Try as she might, she could stay away from Havok. It is only when Haven, the mutant who
preached about bringing about the end of the world to restore happiness, appeared that
Wolfsbane was finally cured. Wolfsbane was free to spend her life at Moria's side.
Wolfsbane soon arrived on Muir Isle and joined Excalibur. There, she met Douglock, the
supposed reincarnated Cypher and Warlock. Wolfsbane, partly due to the fact that Cypher
had sacrificed his life for hers, fell in love with Douglock. The two were happy for a
time.
After the marriage of Captain Britain and Meggan, Excalibur disbanded, and Wolfsbane
remained behind on Muir to help Moria. Douglock took to the world, and their relationship
ended.
Wolfsbane's life would soon change forever. Mystique, the mutant terrorist, stole Moria's
identity, and planned to kill off the human race. After an epic battle between Mystique's
Brotherhood and the X-Men, Wolfsbane's powers were taken from her and Moria was killed.
Wolfsbane swore vengenance on Mystique, but the X-Men stopped her before she could kill
Mystique. Wolfsbane left the mansion, searching for a place in the world, now lost without
her mother or her powers. |
