Powers: Emma Frost is a powerful telepath. Although not as powerful as
Professor X or Phoenix, Emma is both cunning and ruthless, and she ultilizes her powers in
a variety of attacks and defenses. Lately, Emma gained a secondary mutantion, with the
ability to become a human diamond. However, in this form, her telepathy is rendered inert.
Origin: Emma had everything she ever wanted out of life at a young age. Her
parents were rich and esteemed by their friends and colleagues. However, Emma's fairy tale
life ended the day she started to hear voices in her head. And her parents, eager to hide
the fact that their daughter was a mutant, sent Emma to insane asylum. But, using her
powers to take over the guards' minds, she escaped.
History: Emma never returned to her parents. Instead, she lived off the
streets, and eventually used her powers to make her way into the renowned Hellfire Club.
There, she met Harry Leland, who would eventually let her into the Club's evil Inner
Circle, and Emma Frost would become the White Queen.
However, before this could happen, Emma would meet the evil Dark Beast, a refugee from the
Age of Apocalpyse. From him, she learned more about her powers, and more about the evil in
the world.
But as the White Queen, Emma's ruthlessness gained her power and position, more then her
parents could have given her. She started a company, and was soon rich. And as a member of
the Inner Circle, she would soon rage war on the X-Men.
The Inner Circle first mission was to corrupt and take over Jean Grey, the woman called
Phoenix. The plan was thwarted, but the White Queen continued her machinations. Emma began
to collect young mutants in hopes of training them to one day be members of the Hellfire
Club. She called them her Hellions.
The Hellions soon took over Emma's life. She ran the Massachusetts Academy, complete with
both human and mutant students, while training the Hellions in an underground facility.
The Hellions became Professor X's New Mutants rivals, and the two teams, and Professor X
and Emma herself, were constantly fighting.
However, the New Mutants would grow and change, and so would the Hellions and the Hellfire
Club. Selene became the Black Queen, always challenging Emma and Shaw's rule. Even Magneto
joined the Hellfire Club, and with his new headmastership of the New Mutants, the two
teams were now closely interlaced. However, Magneto would return to evil, and the New
Mutants would leave the Hellfire Club behind. Eventually, the New Mutants disbanded,
evolving into X-Force.
Thunderbird, Empath, and Magma left the Hellions behind, and Emma replaced them.
Jetstream, Tarot, Roulette, and Catseye were joined by Beef and Bevatron. However, trajedy
would soon strike. After a ploy by Fitzroy, the Hellfire Club, the Hellions, and the
visiting X-Men found themselves under attack by Sentinels.
Within moments, the Hellions were decimated, killed off one-by-one. The only survivor was
Emma herself, and she was trapped in a coma. The X-Men took her from the Hellfire Club,
believing that perhaps, someone within the club had ordered the attack.
Slowly, Emma regained some strength, and she learned of the Hellions' deaths. Taking over
Iceman's body, Emma tore through the mansion, escaping to New York to her offices, but she
was confronted by the truth again, that the Hellions were indead death. Emma's heart
broke, for in her own way, she loved the Hellions more then had ever loved herself.
While still at the Xavier Mansion, Emma, Banshee, Jubilee, and Sabretooth were the lone
survivors of a raid on the X-Men's home by the alien Phalanx. The quartet quickly learned
the Phalanx were targetting new mutants, so, they searched them out, finding Everett
Thomas first.
Emma led the group to the others, to a ship controlled by a Phalanx called Harvest.
Clarice Ferguson, Monet St. Croix, Angelo Espinosa, and Paige Guthrie fought against their
capturers. But in the end, it took the sacrifice of Clarice's life to save the group.
After hearing of Emma's heroic deeds, and knowing that Emma needed focus in her life,
Professor X offered Emma another chance to teach this next generation of mutants,
Generation X. Alongside Banshee, Emma became a teacher again.
She fought for the lives of her students throughout her time with Gen X. However, the
biggest challenge came when her students were kidnapped by Black Tom Cassidy, and later,
by Operation: Zero Tolerance. The strain of nearly losing another set of students nearly
made Emma snap.
Soon, Emma's life would come tumbling around, this time, in the form of her older sister,
Adrienne. Needing money, Emma turned to Adrienne, who acceptedEmma's offer to became the
headmistress at the school. Howeer, Adrienne soon proved to be as evil as Emma once was,
trying to force her sister to watch as her students perished before her very eyes.
However, Gen X prevailed, and managed to defeat Adrienne, who was now calling herself the
White Queen. Adrienne escaped, but returned again later, this time claiming the life of
Everett Thomas, Synch. Emma was devastated, and her ruthless side was slowly beginning to
return to the surface.
In a fight with Adrienne, Emma apparently killed her and stole the majority of her money.
However, Gen X was soon left alone, as Banshee's long time love, Dr. Mactaggert, perished
fighting Mystique. Gen X would disband, leaving Emma alone for the first time since the
Hellions died.
For unknown reasons, she traveled to Genosha, becoming a teacher once again. However, at
the hands of Cassandra Nova and her Sentinels, Genosha was destroyed, nearly all life
there was obliterated. Emma survived only because of her secondary mutantion she knew
nothing about: the ability to became an organic diamond.
Thus, Emma returned with the X-Men to the Xavier Mansion once more, and has decided to
stay, for at the least the time being. However, the softer side that came out during her
stay with Gen X seems to have diminshed, replaced by the cold, hard, ruthless woman that
Emma once was. |
