Plot -
Readying themselves for the school dance, Jubilee and Husk go shopping for dresses, while
talking about Everett and Tristan, their respective dates. Also, Synch and Chamber are
getting their tuxs, Chamber rattles on about Husk going with Tristan, and Chamber wonders
if Jubilee realizes she and Ev aren't really a couple. Also, Banshee returns home to have
Emma tell him of Adrienne's betrayal, while Skin vents his frustatrations to Artie and
Leech. Later, the team goes through a training excerise, losing to the Living Island
Krakoa. However, after the simulation shuts down, the kids learn that the Iceman hologram
was the real Iceman, at the school as a guest speaker. But when the kids ask Banshee why
he hasn't asked Emma to the dance yet, Emma quickly says that Iceman is her date. Just
before the dance, M checks in on Penance, whose body houses her twin sisters. However,
Penance is on a rampage, destroying ever thing in her sight. M chooses not to interrupt
her. Finally, the dance arrives, with Skin and M walking in arm-in-arm. Everyone is having
a good time, until Synch sees Emplate in the crowd. Alarming the others, Skin and Chamber
fake a fight for a distraction, while Jubilee sets off the sprinklers. Iceman attacks
Emplate, but is quickly thrown aside. Using the powers he got when feeding on Iceman,
Emplate attacks the kids, freezing them in their place. M realizes her brother never is
this aggresive, and then so understands the motives of his attack: a distraction. M,
Chamber, Iceman, Emma, and Synch rush to Penance's room to find DOA, Vincente, Wrap, and
Ebon. They take down the goons, leaving only DOA. They capture them, and head back to the
others, but find out Emplate has them under his control. The groups fight, trying to break
through Emplate's control. Finally, Synch makes Jubilee made enough to break through
Emplate. Jubilee then turns her power on the villain, destroying the building. Iceman
protects the group, all save Penance who was too far away. When they find her, they find
that the St. Croix twins, M's little sisters, have been seperated from Penance, leaving
Gen X to wonder if Penance is now nothing but an empty shell. Husk and Tristain share a
kiss, while Synch and Jubilee realize maybe they weren't meant for each other. And Emma
and Iceman say good-bye. However, back in the med-lab, Penance wakes up and escapes. |
