Plot -
On Asteriod M, Magneto is assualted by a group of astronauts looking to take him out. However, some of the astronauts are really mutants who want to in Magneto's fight for supremacy. Back on Earth, the American government is preparing to take down Magneto, if and when he strikes. In upper New York, the team of mutants that fight for a world that fears and hates goes through a training excerise to test their new Danger Room. In the control room, Cyclops, Storm, Forge, Banshee, Jean Grey, and Professor X await the coming of one of the groups of X-Men trying to infiltrate their defenses. Rogue, Iceman, Archangel, and Colossus take to the front of the "mansion", but Colossus is taken out by Jean's psiblast. Meanwhile, down below, another three X-Men, Gambit, Wolverine, and Psylocke try to enter through the mansion's sewers. However, Gambit is tricked is taken out by a robotic Jean. Eventually, however, Wolverine breaks through the defenses, while Psylocke blocks for him. And Wolverine manages to nab the prize: Professor X himself. Soon after, the team gets the call from Nick Fury, director of SHIELD who needs the X-Men to stop Magneto before its too late. Back on Asteriod M, the astronauts are shown who the traitors when they ask to join Magneto's crusade. They kill their former teammates and take the name of Acolytes. The call arrives at the mansion, and the team moves quickly to cut off Magneto before he can attack. When they reach him, they find him raising the Leningrad, the submarine he sunk with all personal on board, out of the ocean. Rogue confronts her former lover, but to no avail. They attack, believing Magneto to be hostile. However, Magneto is prepared and manages to push them back. Rogue tries to talk to him, but is shot down by the government and Magneto retaliates. Rogue awakes in a Genoshan hospital, under the care of a former Magistrate. However, before she can even make sense of the situation, she is attacked by Magneto's Acolytes, lead by Fabian Cortez. However, when the X-Men try to stop put an end to the violence, Magneto himself stops the X-Men from hurting his new found Acolytes. But, back at the mansion, Moria Mactaggert has a horrible realization: this fight is her fault!
