Plot -
Sunspot, trapped by Selene's magics, finds himself in a world where he is the most man
alive, someone everyone wants a piece of. He quickly realizes that Selene, who captured
X-Force last issue, is behind the madness. Selene tells him that the others are safe, but
he is the one she wants. She makes offers of power and knowledge, but only if Sunspot
joins the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle. He refuses and storms out of the room. When he
does, the demon Blackheart, now a member of the Inner Circle himself, warns Selene that
Sunspot will not be easily won over. Meanwhile, Sunspot finds Meltdown and frees her from
the nightmare she was in imprisoned in. Confused at first, she quickly recovers after
learning Selene's at fault. The two then free Cannonball. They hear Jesse scream, and
running down the hall, they find Warpath has already found him. Jesse, however, believes
that X-Force themselves are part of the dream world, and to prove him otherwise, Meltdown
slaps him. Before the team can find its last member, Moonstar, they are attacked by a
group of Hellfire Club soldiers. They find that the soldiers aren't even human; they're
demons. Down below, in the Club's basement, Blackheart experiments with Moonstar's
recently acquired quantum powers. He begins to push her too far, and may end up killing
her. Before he can, Hela, the Asgardian goddess of Death, appears, claiming that
Moonstar's soul is hers, because she is at-least partly Asgardia (Moonstar spent some time
as an Valkireye, Asgardian chooser of the slain.) Blackheart frees her, because he does
not wish to make Hela angry. Moonstar escapes back upstairs, and finishes off the
demon-soldiers. Moments later, X-Force is attacked by large tendrils, each oen stopping
them from moving. Only Sunspot is free, when Selene and Blackheart appear, this time with
a young woman named Juliana Sandoval. Juliana had sacrificed her life to save Sunspot's
many years ago. Selene makes Sunspot one last offer: join the Club and Juliana will be
reborn. Sunspot agrees, and X-Force is let go, minus Sunspot. Not far away, Juliana's life
begins anew, in a body of a recently deceased young woman. |
