Powers: Dani currently has the ability to create psychic arrows. The arrows can
cause a multitude of effects from pain to unconsciousness. She also has the abilities to
generate illusions from the minds of others, create a solid image from her mind, and
generate illusions impressed on objects. For a time, she had the powers of the Valkiroyr,
including the abilities to see the approach of death and to generate a spear from the air.
Later, she had the ablity to use quantum energy, the energy crafted in all things.
Origin: Dani Moonstar is a full-blooded Cheyenne who grew up on a ranch.
However, her parents were appearantly killed by the Demon Bear, an evil being from
Cheyenne belief. Later, she would join with other young mutants like herself to form the
next generation of Professor X's students, the New Mutants.
History: Soon, she and Cannonball were sharing leadership responibilites. Dani
was headstrong and proud, even though her powers were not truly suited for combat. The
ability to draw forth her enemies' greatest fear or desire helped, but not much.
Her true powers were put to the test early on. Her trial by fire came when the Demon Bear
came to claim her soul as it had her parents years earlier. However, Dani, with help from
her fellow New Mutants, managed to kill the Demon Bear, and in doing so, she released her
parents from its grip, giving them back their lives. They returned to their ranch, while
Dani remained with her teammates, forming bonds, especially with the young Wolfsbane, a
girl who would become her best friend.
Dani grew into a young woman, and the New Mutants starting growing up, but not before the
team first came to Asgard. In the battle with Loki and minions, the New Mutants were
caught. While there, Dani became one of the Valkiroyr, the Norse goddesses that brought
the dead from the battefield to Valhalla, to await the final battle. In doing so, she
gained new powers.
Dani would return to Earth, and remain co-leader of the New Mutants. The team would soon
leave Professor X's school, after Professor X himself was gravely injured and the school
transfered into Magneto's care. Dani helped the team grow, and helped Wolfsbane come out
of her shell. However, the team would soon again venture into Asgard. And this time, Dani
would not come back. She had changed forever by Hela's, the Norse death goddess, magic.
She had not recovered and could return to Earth without endangering her friends.
However, her time spent in Asgard was worth it. Her powers grew again, granting her the
ability to shoot psychic arrows. She would return to Earth, but the New Mutants were gone,
replaced by Cable and his X-Force. Wolfsbane had been transformed into a mutate, and
Danielle was lost. Approached by G. W. Bridge of SHIELD, Dani became an undercover agent
to infiltrate the evil Mutant Liberation Front.
However, the move was dangerous. She had now pitted herself against her friends, who
believed that she had betrayed them. More so, she herself learned that the MLF was not all
evil, and found ways to help X-Force from the backgroud and sabotage the MLF's missions.
The ruse was destroyed, when the MLF and X-Force were trapped together in a labratory
filled with Prime Sentinels during Operation: Zero Tolerance. Dani and MLF member Forearm
escaped with X-Force, but when it was revealed that Dani had really been a spy, Forearm
stormed off.
Dani finally returned to her friends, and for the first time, joined X-Force. She was no
longer the leader, and Wolfsbane was a world away, fighting alongside the European
Excalibur. But Moonstar found her peace.
That is, until a touch with the mysterious Arcadia Deville transformed her body. Dani
gained the ability to mainpulate quantum energy. Eventually, her strange connection with
Arcadia would leave both her and Dani splintered. Arcadia's power would returned, and Dani
gave up her new found power to save the dimension from collasping into other dimensions.
However, when Pete Wisdom took the team into the world of spies and black ops, Dani wanted
nothing to do with it. She had played that game once before and nearly lost everything she
ever held dear. She decided it was time to go to college. She returned to the Xavier
Mansion, working part time at the mansion, while taking classes. She still continues her
college studies, while associating with the X-Men on occasion. |
