Powers: Meltdown can create timb bombs, made of plasma energy that explode on
her mental command. The bombs can range in size and power, and can soar through the air.
Now, she can create long streams of plasma.
Origin: A young teen out of a backwater, trailer park area in Tennesse, Tabitha
discovered her mutant powers when a man tried to take advantage of her. Her blasts nearly
killed the man. She hid her powers from her mutant-hating father (her mother had run away
when Tab was a baby) and ran away from home. Eventually, she was found by the
super-villain Vanisher, and she joined him on his quest for money.
History: Tabitha came to hate her life with the Vanisher. However, during this
time, she and the Vanisher did join the Fallen Angels, along with her future X-Force
teammates Siryn and Sunspot, and New Mutants teammate Warlock. After the Fallen Angels
stint, Tabitha was found by X-Factor, and with Rusty Collins, Skids, Artie, Leech, and
Rictor, they became the X-Terminators.
The X-Terminators did not last long, and Boom-Boom, as Tabitha was now called, and the
rest of the X-Terminators joined with the New Mutants, fighting against Magneto's
leadership. Boom-Boom used humor and wise cracks to hide her pain, and her face was always
hidden beneath the pink hue of bubble gum.
Boom-Boom slowly grew up, facing the horrors of Genosha, seeing a teammate die, and her
team, the New Mutants, fall apart. For support, she turned to Rictor, and then later,
Cannonball. Eventually, the New Mutants fell apart, and slowly transformed under the
direction of Cable. Skids and Rusty were now part of the enemy force, and Rictor had
turned his back on Cable, to go looking for the missing Wolfsbane.
Boom-Boom changed her name to Boomer, and she and Cannonball were the last of the New
Mutants when the time came for a new team: X-Force. Boomer and Cannonball were never far
apart, and the two were nearly inseperable.
Boomer experienced even more of the world, and the barrier that existed between her and
her feelings fell a little more every day. Eventually, she was even able to confront her
father, returning to the same trailor park where she grew up. She faced her father for the
first time in years, and it is here she learned that her mother was alive, somewhere,
living oblivious to her daughter's life.
But Boomer's life would soon enter many shake-ups. When X-Force moved into the Xavier
Mansion, Cannonball left X-Force and joined the X-Men. The two were still together, but
soon, their time together was more limited.
Also, Boomer would face the challenge of her life. After Wolverine had impaled
Sabretooth's brain with his claws, the villain was reduced to the mentality of a child.
Boomer took care of Sabretooth, feeding him milk and slowly allowing herself to became
attached. However, it was all an act on Sabretooth's part, just some plan to escape.
Boomer attacked Sabretooth, both infuriated and horrified to see how Sabretooth had
tricked her. However, instead of hurting him, she merely freed him. When the X-Man
Psylocke intervened to save Boomer's life, she was nearly killed herself and was only
saved by the mystic Crimson Dawn.
Boomer fell into a deep depression, and changed her name once more, this time to Meltdown.
Her attitude also changed, this time, the walls were there, but a kick-butt attitude
replaced the wise-cracking Boom-Boom. Soon, X-Force would leave the mansion, and her and
Cannonball's relationship would be strained.
Again, looking towards her male teammates for comfort, she accidently fell into Sunspot's,
Cannonball's best friend, arms. However, when Cannonball visited for an extended time,
Cannonball caught the two in a lip-lock and declared his and Meltdown's relationship over.
Meltdown stayed attached to Sunspot, and Cannonball would eventually return to the X-Force
fold. And when Siryn was gravely injured in a battle, he would resume leadership of the
team. Soon, Meltdown would end the flip-flop relationship with Sunspot, mostly because she
knew how much she had hurt Cannonball.
Meltdown remained with the team, and eventually went back to Cannonball, when Pete Wisdom
took over the team. X-Force went deep underground, and with it, Meltdown's power took
another step forward. However, when X-Force was apparently killed in a blast, they
went further underground. Meltdown's current whereabouts are unknown. |
