Plot -
The East Coast Avengers are enjoying a day off around the answer, while across the United
States, the West Coast branch is doing the same around their headquarters. But Maelstrom,
the evil being bent on taking over the world, has devised a way to make himself
invincible. Giving new life to his minions, Phobius, Gronk, and Helio, Maelstrom sets in
motion a plan to use the energy of the Earth's rotation to make himself more powerful than
ever. Visiting an old friend, Captain Marvel discovers the earth is slowly slowing down.
Calling the Avengers into action, Captain Marvel soon discovers Phobius in an underground
base, but Phobius's fear power forces her to escape. Calling in the West Coast Avengers,
the two teams unite in an effort to stop Maelstrom and his minions. But poor Captain
Marvel can hardly contain the fear Phobius instiled in her. Nonetheless, she joins the
Avengers on their mission. The two teams reach Maelstrom's base, but are attacked by Helio
and his power over the air. Using his only advantage to stop the evil minion, Starfox
turns on his pleasure power to stop Helio's rampage. Landing near the entrance, the
Avengers are confronted by Maelstrom's other minions and fight their way inside. Finally,
the Avengesr are able to confront the madman, but find their power may not be enough. When
Tigra's life is in danger, Captain Marvel finally breaks through Phobius's fear power to
save her. The Avenger join together in a last strike, not intending to destroy Maelstrom,
but to force him into absorbing too much power. In doing so, Maelstrom grows so large,
that his molecules expand so far that he no longer exists. His minions, knowing they are
defeated, surrender. |
